Washington Weekly Review
The news that the government of Great Britain is mounting a full-scale assault on Christians is not really surprising. The left-wing in England, like their counterparts on the European continent, have long discriminated against Christians, while at the same time, in myriad ways, protected those of Muslim faith. For much of his 3 years in office, Barack Obama and his administration have been mirroring Europe’s blatant discrimination against Christians.
The latest example of the rabid discrimination by Prime Minister David Cameron’s government in Great Britain against Christians came from a news report from the United Kingdom’s national newspaper, “The Daily Mail”. According to the newspaper, the UK’s Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone, a Liberal Democrat, has instructed government’s lawyers to stop Christian workers from wearing the cross. The Cameron government will call on Europe’s “human rights” judges to dismiss the claims of Christian workers Nadia Eweida and Shirley Chaplin that they have a right to wear a cross to work as a symbol of their faith in Jesus Christ... Instead of Creating Jobs, Senate Democrats Focus on Campaign Attacks
U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following remarks on the Senate floor Thursday regarding efforts to slow the bipartisan JOBS Act:
“I’d like to just start out this morning by saying I’m glad we’ll be turning to the bipartisan JOBS Act that passed the House last week by such a lopsided margin. Here’s a chance not only to help entrepreneurs build their businesses and create jobs, but to show that we can work together around here to get things done on a bipartisan basis.
“Unfortunately, some of our friends on the other side don’t seem to like that idea very much.
“Apparently, they’d rather spend their time manufacturing fights —and 30 second television ads — than helping to create jobs"... (READ MORE)
True Cost of ObamaCare Threatens America’s Wellbeing
House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) updated cost estimate of the president’s health care law. The new CBO projection estimates that the law will cost $1.76 trillion over 10 years – well above the $940 billion Democrats originally claimed.
“The longer the president’s health care law remains on the books, the greater the threat it poses to our nation’s health care and our fiscal wellbeing,” said Chairman Price. “The CBO’s revised cost estimate indicates that this massive government intrusion into America’s health care system will be far more costly than was originally claimed. The law’s true cost to American taxpayers is part of a series of promises President Obama and Democrats in Congress made that will be broken. Both fiscally and for the sake of our health care system, Americans cannot afford the president’s health care law... (READ MORE)
