President George W. Bush Issues Proclamation Yesterday Regarding National Days of Prayer and Remembrance
The President of the United States, George W. Bush, issued a proclamation yesterday regarding National Days of Prayer and Remembrance in tribute to the thousands of innocent victims who died on September 11, 2001.
President Bush went on to say in his proclamation: "Our Nation honors the brave citizens, service members, police officers, and firefighters who heroically responded in the face of terror. On these important days, we reflect on the terrible events of September 11, 2001, and lift the victims and their families in our prayers.
"Our Nation will never forget the individuals who lost their lives in New York, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon. America remains inspired by the countless acts of kindness and sacrifice we saw that day -- fearless rescuers who rushed toward danger, a beloved priest who died helping others, two office workers who carried a disabled person 68 floors to safety.
"We also pray for the safety and success of the members of our Armed Forces now serving freedom's cause. We seek God's grace on their families, and commit to Heaven's care those brave men and women He has called home. We ask the Almighty to watch over America and pray for His providence and continued blessings on our country. May He always guide the United States of America. As we defend our country against its enemies, we pray for help in protecting the gift of freedom from those who seek to destroy it, and we ask the Almighty to strengthen all those securing liberty on distant shores.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Friday, September 5, through Sunday, September 7, 2008, as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance. I ask that the people of the United States and their places of worship mark these National Days of Prayer and Remembrance with memorial services, the ringing of bells, and evening candlelight remembrance vigils. I also invite all people across the world to share in these Days of Prayer and Remembrance...."
Christian Coalition of America Commends Senator McCain for Vice Presidential Selection of Governor Sarah Palin, a Pro-life Conservative Reformer from Alaska
Christian Christian Coalition of America commends Senator John McCain for his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, a pro-life conservative mother of 5 children including a Downs Syndrome baby born during April. Liberal and pro-life columnist Nat Hentoff said about Governor Palin in his column on May 26th: "I offer my unsolicited suggestion for (McCain's) vice president: the first woman -- and youngest -- governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, who is an unstereotypical and effective Republican."
Her oldest son joined the United States Army on September 11th last year and will be serving a tour in Iraq soon, as did one of the sons of her running mate, Senator John McCain. Governor Palin said about her husband's and her feelings about their newest child: "We've both been very vocal about being pro-life. We understand that every innocent life has wonderful potential."
She served notice to her Alaskan constituents after the birth of Trig Paxson Van Palin that being the mother of a child of special needs would not hinder her professional commitments: "It's a sign of the times to be able to do this. There is no reason to believe a woman can't do it with a growing family. My baby will not be at all or in any sense neglected." And she added, "I will not shirk my duties."
Roberta Combs, President of the Christian Coalition of America said: "Governor Sarah Palin is a bold choice for Vice President who is a courageous advocate for unborn children. In addition, she is a conservative who is a reformer not afraid to shake up the establishment. I congratulate Senator McCain for his outstanding selection for his vice presidential running mate."
Powerful Homosexual Lobby is Doing Whatever it can to Defeat the Ballot Initiatives Banning Homosexual "Marriages" in California and Florida/Voters in Arkansas Will Vote on Banning Homosexual Adoptions
On Tuesday, the powerful homosexual lobby suffered a setback in its campaign to disrupt the vote-- in 67 days from now -- banning homosexual "marriage" in California. In Florida, the homosexual lobby -- through phony groups determined to defeat the initiative on the ballot on November 4th -- is trying to discredit the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment (Amendment 2) on the ballot through distortions and lies.
On Tuesday, a federal district court judge in Orange County, California, indicated that he was dismissing a last-ditch effort by "same-sex marriage" advocates to overturn the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA.) The homosexual lobby is doing whatever it can to influence California voters to vote NO on the ban on homosexual "marriages."
Likewise, in Florida, the powerful homosexual lobby, through a front group called the "Florida Red and Blue" which opposes Amendment 2 (the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment) is airing false political advertisements during the Democrat National Convention infested with lies and scare tactics.
When California, Florida and Arizona voters approve their state's constitutional bans on homosexual "marriages" in November, they will be among 30 states banning such abominations. Indeed, voters in those other 27 states have approved constitutional amendments banning homosexual "marriages" by an average of 70%!
Thankfully, the voters in Arkansas on November 4th will have the opportunity to prevent adoption and foster-parenting by homosexual couples. Over 85,000 of the required 61,974 voter's signatures were gathered to place a proposal on the November 4 ballot.
Part of the Arkansas ballot measure states: "(a) A minor may not be adopted or placed in a foster home if the individual seeking to adopt or to serve as a foster parent is cohabiting with a sexual partner outside of a marriage which is valid under the constitution and laws of this state. (b) The prohibition of this section applies equally to cohabiting opposite-sex and same-sex individuals."

Astounding Advances in Adult Stem Cell Research Could Make Immoral Human Embryonic Stem Cell Destruction Research Moot
Yesterday, "The Washington Post" reported an astounding advance in adult stem cell research which has produced numerous successes in treatment of countless diseases whereas the immoral human embryonic stem cell destruction research has produced no successes whatsoever even after tens of billions of tax dollars have been wasted on such abominable research.
"The Washington Post" reporter Rob Stein said in his article yesterday that: "Scientists have transformed one type of fully developed adult cell directly into another inside a living animal, a startling advance that could lead to cures for a variety of illnesses and sidestep the political and ethical quagmiresassociated with embryonic stem cell research....
"It's kind of an extreme makeover of a cell," said Douglas A Melton Douglas, co-director of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute who led the research. "The goal is to create cells that are missing or defective in people. It's very exciting."
"The work was hailed as a welcome development even by critics of research involving embryonic stem cells, which can be coaxed to become any tissue in the body but are highly controversial because they are obtained by destroying embryos.
"I see no moral problem in this basic technique," said Richard Doerflinger of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, a leading opponent of embryonic stems cell research. "This is a 'win-win' situation for medicine and ethics."..."
""I'm stunned," said Robert Lanza, chief scientific officer of Advanced Cell Technology in Worcester, Mass., a developer of stem cell therapies. "It introduces a whole new paradigm for treating disease."..."
"... The idea to be able to reprogram one adult neuron type into another for repair in the nervous system is very exciting," said Paola Arlotta, who is working in the Center for Regenerative Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School in Boston...."
"... Doerflinger argued that the discovery was the latest evidence that research involving human embryos is no longer necessary. "This adds to the large and growing list of studies helping to make embryonic stem cells irrelevant to medical progress," Doerflinger wrote in an e-mail...."
"... If preliminary studies in the laboratory are promising, Melton said he might first try converting liver cells to insulin-producing pancreatic cells, because that would be safer than using the pancreas. An alternative strategy would be to use the approach to grow beta cells in the laboratory and transplant them into patients.
"Lanza said he is optimistic. "One day, this may allow the doctor to replace the scalpel with a sort of genetic surgery," Lanza said. "If this can be perfected, it would represent one of the holy grails of medicine.""

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi Condemned by Catholic Church Hierarchy for Her Heretical Views On Abortion
Last Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," San Francisco Democrat and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made the decision that she was the interpreter of Catholic Church doctrine regarding the dignity or sanctity of precious human life, including that of the innocent unborn. Nancy Pelosi told NBC's Tom Brokaw that "over the history of the Church, this (abortion) is an issue of controversy." As a result of these and other intemperate remarks by Pelosi to Brokaw, an uproar ensued not only amongst fellow Catholics and in the pro-life movement in general, but in the United States Congress.
Nearly a dozen fellow Catholics and Members of the United States House of Representatives took her to task in a letter dated August 25th led by the Honorable Thaddeus G. McCotter, a Republican from Michigan. They told Pelosi that "Your subsequent remarks mangle Catholic Church doctrine regarding the inherent sanctity and dignity of human life; therefore, we are compelled to refute your error."
They went on to say: "In the interview, Tom Brokaw reminded you that the Church professes the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. As stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: 'Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being' (2274.)"
The Archbishop of Washington condemned Nancy Pelosi and Obama's running mate, Joe Biden, both Catholics, for their perverted positions on abortion. Archbishop Donald Wuerl, of Washington D.C., said that Catholics need to reflect more before they begin talking about church doctrine. He also wrote a statement saying that Nancy Pelosi's explanation of the church's abortion stance was "incorrect."
Archbishop Wuerl went on to say: "The current teaching of the Catholic Church on human life and abortion is the same teaching as it was 2,000 years ago,†Wuerl noted. “From the beginning, the Catholic Church has respected the dignity of all human life from the moment of conception to natural death."
He cited a passage from the church’s catechism that condemns abortion as “gravely contrary to moral law." "Since the first century the church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion,†the catechism states. "This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable." Catholic bishops have gone after Republican officials who are Catholic such as Rudy Giuliani and denied them communion also.

Christian Coalition Activists Need to Encourage 110th Congress to Pass Both "Net Neutrality" and "Multicast-Equal Access" Legislation to Prevent Discrimination Against Religious Broadcasters - Democrat-controlled Congress Expected to Pass "Net Neutrality"
Multicast/Equal Access" (formerly called "Multicast/Must-carry") will go a long way to preventing discrimination against religious broadcasters. Without a "Multicast/Equal Access" law, the cable and satellite companies would probably not add new Christian channels and the influence of current Christian channels will be diluted.
ACTION ITEM: Please all your Congressman at 202-225-3121 or you can go to http://www.cc.org/contactcongress.cfm and email them and urge them to co-sponsor the Net Neutrality legislation introduced by Republican Congressman Charles "Chip" Pickering and Democrat Congressman Edward Markey called the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008," H.R. 5353
Join the Christian Coalition’s Judicial Task Force, which is dedicated to ending the obstruction of the President's judicial nominees and ensuring that they ALL receive a fair "up or down" vote by the full Senate
Please sign our petition and join the Judicial Task Force at: http://www.cc.org/taskforce.cfm
Encourage your family, friends and church friends to also sign the petition at our website and to join the Christian Coalition’s Judicial Task Force, which is dedicated to ending the obstruction of the President's judicial nominees and ensuring that they ALL receive a fair "up or down" vote by the full Senate.
There are a number of President Bush's Circuit Court of Appeals' nominees who have not yet received a Senate floor vote. The challenge to confirm President Bush's nominees in a Democrat-controlled Senate will be very difficult and we need your help in doing just that. You will become part of a team of individuals who are committed to being ready on a moment’s notice to take action when obstruction occurs.
Please keep the above issues in prayer. Through prayer and action great and mighty things can be accomplished.
