Major breakthrough in stem-cell research
NEW YORK – Scientists reported more progress Thursday with a method of creating stem cells without using embryos.
The advance in cell reprogramming by researchers in Boston was praised as a more efficient way of turning skin cells into stem cells, a step toward developing new medical treatments. One expert said the new approach might be the first practical way to make such cells for creating new tissue to treat conditions like diabetes and Parkinson's disease.
In 2007, when scientists first reported they had reprogrammed skin cells into stem cells, it was hailed as an alternative to getting stem cells from embryos, which are then destroyed. Since then, researchers have been working on fine-tuning the method...

Although stem cell research
Although stem cell research is accepted in our world, I would rather science focus on other issues and cures. Cell reprogramming is repugnant to me as it dances very close to acting as GOD. I and my wife are diabetic and would absolutely refuse to benefit from such possible cures. Embryonic stem cell research is an abomination. I believe it is an attempt to make use of the 'garbage' resulting from abortion, another repugnant issue. God will judge America harshly for what we do, especially as it pertains to the unborn. Judge me a fool or whatever but GOD will have the final say in the right or wrong of abortion and stem cell research and possible application of discoveries. Even if we decide it is for the good of man. Things done for the good of man are the pathway to eternal hell.
Ron, Don't mistake me; I am
Ron,
Don't mistake me; I am certainly not defending stem cell research resulting from embryonic tissue usage. Having-said-that, doctors dance very closely to God everyday in many different ways. It would be difficult to practice several types of medicine without doing so (surgery in a triage setting can come very close). Some treatments were developed from poisons or illegal drugs ([opium] (a few even were poisons and/or nerve weapons initially). It is difficult to know the influences or the mindsets of those whose research played some part in the pharmaceutical advances we take for granted today (you might find yourself equally distressed at the origins of some of them.)
Life is sacrosanct, and abortion is murder, none-the-less, if there is a cure for diabetes developed, I would hope that you (and your wife) would benefit from it. In a strange paradox; if only those of this world were to benefit, we could lose the voice of too many like yourself (who, rightly, demand a Godly review of all such matters). Again, you are correct in saying that God will judge (no one can possibly imagine the scope of the unintended consequences of genetic manipulation, other than God.) but, I can't believe that God would allow an answer to disease that was not good (in-and-of-itself).

15You haven’t received the spirit of slaves that leads you into fear again. Instead, you have received the spirit of God’s adopted children by which we call out, “Abba! Father!” 16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17If we are his children, we are also God’s heirs. If we share in Christ’s suffering in order to share his glory, we are heirs together with him. Romans 8
