Lawmakers 'Cowardly' in 'Sleazy' Vote on Marriage Law

A Massachusetts-based family advocate says his state's senators acted "cowardly" in how they handled a vote repealing an almost-century-old law that prohibited non-resident homosexuals from taking advantage of the Commonwealth's law permitting them to "marry."
The Massachusetts Senate has moved the Commonwealth one step closer to being the second U.S. state to offer unrestricted homosexual "marriage." Massachusetts legalized homosexual marriages in 2004. But a 1913 law prohibited homosexuals who were not residents of Massachusetts from getting "married" unless same-sex unions were legal in their area of residence. However, lawmakers in the state senate voted Tuesday to repeal that law.
