The “War on Women” rhetoric President Barack Obama and top Democrats have used to attack GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and pro-life advocates standing up for religious freedom has backfired.

A new CBS News/New York Times poll shows Obama’s support among women has dropped five percentage points over the last two months, going from 49% to 44%. Romney has seen his support with women go up three percent from 43% to 46%, according to the survey.

Mike Flynn, of the conservative Big Government web site, noticed the poll and writes, “Mind you, that isn’t GOP woman or even independent women, but ALL women voters.”

The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus said Sunday that "it's wrong" for Democrats to accuse Republicans of waging a "war on women."

"Yes, that is wrong. And I've never said it, not one time," Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., said, speaking on CNN's "State of the Union."

Cleaver made the statement when asked directly about Democratic claims that recent GOP legislation on abortion and other issues is tantamount to a campaign against women.

"I condemn it. If it's a Democrat, if it's my cousin, it's wrong," Cleaver said. "And I think we need to stop that. It is damaging the body politic and it's further separating the people in this country"...

The author of an explosive new book offering an inside account of the Obama presidency is fighting back against charges that he plagiarized material and falsely accused the White House of creating a "hostile" work environment for women.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ron Suskind's book, "Confidence Men: Wall Street, Washington, and The Education of A President," was released Tuesday amid a firestorm of controversy over the depiction of a dysfunctional White House fueled by testosterone at the expense of top female advisers who said they felt outgunned at meetings and excluded from key conversations.

On Tuesday, Suskind described the book as "solid as a brick."

"The book was pushed through with great effort and the fact is, is that this book, like all the books that I've written, is densely sourced and the analysis is picture-perfect," Suskind told NBC's "Today" show.
