Rick Santorum has picked up three noteworthy Iowa endorsements for his bid to capture the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.

Chuck Laudner (former Executive Director and Interim Chairman of the Iowa RepublicanParty), Lori Jungling (Iowa co-chairman of HuckPAC) and Shane Vander Heart (conservative blogger at CaffeinatedThoughts.com) have all jumped on board the Santorum campaign.

Laudner's endorsement will almost certainly get the attention of fellow Iowa Republicans. One of Laudner's friends is the currently un-committed Congressman Steve King.

King's endorsement (should there be one) would be a big Iowa Caucus development given the level of devotion backers have for the western Iowa Congressman. And please note the King mention in this portion Santorum's press release about Laudner's endorsement...

A leading border-enforcement advocate in Congress is calling for hearings into what is being referred to as President Barack Obama's "Executive Order amnesty."

On August 18 Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced her department was creating an interagency working group charged with reviewing -- on a case-by-case basis -- the removal proceedings of all illegal aliens slated for deportation. The move has been seen by immigration enforcement advocates as a way for the Obama administration to ignore its congressional mandate to remove those people from the country.

Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa), vice-chairman of the House Immigration Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement, admits he is "offended" by the administration's tactics.

"Congress writes the laws and the Executive Branch enforces them," King states. "For the president to have his subordinates declare and announce they're not going to enforce the law is de facto amnesty. read more »

The panel is considering a bill, the Respect for Marriage Act (S-598), that would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and give same-sex couples the same rights and privileges of married couples under federal law. President Barack Obama is among those who support S-598.

One conservative group called Wednesday’s Judiciary Committee hearing “a dog and pony show” for the media and for homosexuals, who comprise a “very influential portion” of the Democrats’ political base. The Family Research Council also noted that the witness list was “stacked” in favor of those who want the Defense of Marriage Act overturned...

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) says there's "no question" that government spending cuts are necessary and "long overdue," but he laments that the $38.5-billion in spending cuts agreed to late Friday were achieved in exchange for continued funding of the Democrats' health care law.

House Speaker John Boehner agreed that the deal reached late Friday was “imperfect,” but he sees it as a “first step toward getting spending under control.” Writing in USA Today on Monday, Boehner noted that House Republicans “dragged a reluctant Senate and White House” – both controlled by Democrats – into bigger spending cuts than they wanted to make.

But not all Republicans are happy...

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) says he is not yet sure how House Republicans will go about defunding Obamacare if the effort to enact legislation fully repealing the legislation ultimately fails, as it is expected to given that it would require passing the Democrat-controlled Senate and then the signature of President Obama to become law.

“There have been some discussions (with House leadership), but I haven’t gone into it deeply enough that I’d be willing to represent it publicly,” King said about the effort to defund Obamacare. “Those are conversations that need to take place.”

King said that the entire focus for the last few days has been on the repeal legislation, but that attempts to defund Obamacare would follow that...

A conservative congressman is praising Virginia's recent federal ruling against ObamaCare, but he also warns that opponents of the new law should not place all of their trust in the court system.

Representative Steve King (R-Iowa) says U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson's decision earlier this month to strike down ObamaCare's requirement that everyone participates in purchasing healthcare was a no-brainer.

"The basis for the individual mandate was the Commerce Clause -- that Congress has the constitutional authority to regulate commerce between the states. [But] not accessing healthcare from any source, let alone not purchasing health insurance, none of that is interstate commerce and should not be," King contends...

Even as some of the first pieces of President Obama's health care reform legislation take effect, Republicans in Congress and conservative activist groups are still working to repeal or at least rewrite major sections of the legislation.

Rep. Steve King, Iowa Republican, is circulating a petition that would force an up-or-down vote in the House of Representatives on repealing the vast bulk of the estimated $940 billion, 10-year legislation the Democratic-controlled Congress passed this spring.

The petition had 80 signatures as of Thursday - the same day the White House formally launched HealthCare.gov, which officials described as a "one-stop shopping" place for health insurance. Other parts of the law, including a new 10 percent excise tax on indoor-tanning services and a new stopgap program to cover Americans with pre-existing health conditions who can't get private-sector coverage, also went into effect Thursday...

One of the most conservative members of Congress says President Obama must be completely out of touch with reality for making light of the recent Tea Party gatherings around the country.

President Obama said during a Democratic fundraiser in Miami that he was "amused" by anti-tax Tea Party rallies that took place prior to and on Tax Day (April 15). The president told the gathering that he has cut taxes, contrary to the claims of the protesters, and he commented, "You would think they'd be saying 'thank you.'"

One of the most conservative members of the United States Congress has filed a bill to revoke what he is calling "Obamacare."

Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) knows it will be a long and hard fight to repeal the newly enacted $938-billion healthcare overhaul pushed through Sunday by Democrats without a single Republican vote. The battle on the judicial front has already begun, with several lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the far-reaching measure. Meanwhile, King has launched another front.

"I have introduced the request for the repeal," he explains. "It's not much time to lick our wounds, in fact no time to do that, [but] come right back up and go to work and keep taking it to them"....

One of the most outspoken critics of illegal immigration doesn't believe the healthcare bill should be a launching pad for amnesty.

With the clock ticking towards the November midterm elections, Democrats are pulling out all the stops to pass their massive healthcare bill before lawmakers must head home to campaign. Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa), ranking member of the House Immigration Subcommittee, feels healthcare and amnesty are two of three items on President Obama's agenda that are somewhat linked.

"Cap and trade, which I call appropriately 'cap and tax,' socialized medicine, and comprehensive amnesty [are the three] -- and if they can move one of those three forward, they think it gives them momentum to move the second one and then the third one," King comments....
