It took awhile, but Newt Gingrich is officially a candidate for the presidency in 2012. The former House speaker made the announcement via Twitter and Facebook Wednesday.

Gingrich will also sit down for an exclusive with Fox News' Sean Hannity Wednesday night to talk more about his decision. He came excruciatingly close, at least for an eager corps of political reporters, to making his announcement in March before pulling back. Instead he created a website called newtexplores2012.com, without actually creating a presidential exploratory committee.

Gingrich brings considerable name recognition to the Republican field, a quality candidates like former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum have been working furiously to attain...

It’s been exactly one year since President Obama signed a sweeping federal health care law, and with Republicans determined to undo it, Obama knows his 2012 re-election will be a tough referendum on himself and his signature legislation.

The law infringes on individuals’ and states’ rights by forcing individuals to purchase a good or service, which is why I joined a lawsuit calling the law unconstitutional”...

It could be called a "death panel" -- for the health care law itself, that is.

In advance of the Affordable Care Act's one year anniversary next week, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich on Friday convened a panel of experts to examine its "survival rate," predicting the controversial law will be repealed by the spring of 2013.

"I think it will be repealed, probably by March or April of 2013," Gingrich predicted at a panel discussion sponsored by the Center for Health Transformation, an organization he founded to advocate for "system-wide" reform. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a pro-life advocate, says he is more inclined than not to consider a presidential bid in 2012 seeking the GOP nomination against pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
