A federal appeals court on Monday threw out a lawsuit challenging the legality of the US military's ban on homosexuals, an issue with so many ups and downs it will likely end up in the US Supreme Court.

Messengers to the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention will be presented with the results of a study dealing with efforts throughout the denomination to help those who want to leave the homosexual lifestyle.

A Roman Catholic priest in Canada is under investigation on charges of violating that nation's hate crimes law.

Lou Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition notes the Canadian Human Rights Commission is looking into it. "Canada has already passed several laws where clergymen have been affected negatively. And this particular case, I think, is very important because it involves a Roman Catholic priest in good standing doing what his church says," Sheldon explains.

The priest was teaching about homosexual "marriage" and homosexuality from a biblical perspective, and about Catholic doctrine in defense of the church's stance on marriage. "If there's a loss of that kind of religious liberties in Canada, then the church had better sit up and take notice," Sheldon contends.

Two very different verdicts from Virginia's high court this week in separate custody battles between former lesbian partners.

First, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled Friday that ex-lesbian Lisa Miller had no right to deny child visitation to her former lesbian partner, Janet Jenkins. CBN News first reported on the case, Miller vs. Jenkins, in April.

In a separate but similar case decided on Tuesday, the state's high court ruled that the biological mother of a child conceived during a lesbian relationship had the right to prevent visitation to her former lesbian partner.

Schwarzenegger signed AB 14, which requires more California businesses, as well as some churches and nonprofit organizations, to support and promote transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality.

AB 14 prohibits state funding for any program that does not support transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality. This means state-funded social services operated by churches and other houses of faith, which provide essential services to children and adults, could dry up.
