But the prospects for such a bill are dim as the Senate doesn't have enough votes and pro-life advocates worry such an idea may backfire.

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) rebutted claims by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that there is no federal (taxpayer) funding of abortion in the health care bill.

Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing on Thursday, Boehner said the Senate's version of health care reform, unlike the one that passed in the House, provides for federal funding of abortion.

Boehner pointed out that, under the Senate bill, all Americans are required to pay a separate abortion premium of at least $1 a month. This mandatory premium amounted to a tax, Boehner said, because the federal government is forcing Americans to fund abortion, something it has never done before....

Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak says he's counted 11 lawmakers plus himself willing to kill President Obama's health care overhaul over abortion language.

Stupak, of Michigan, sponsored a provision in the House of Representative's health care bill that passed last fall that clearly prohibits the use of federal money to pay for abortions. That language did not make it into the Senate bill, the model Obama is using to craft the plan he is expected to send to Congress shortly.

"We're not gonna vote for this bill with that kind of language in there," Stupak said Thursday in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"I want to see health care, but we're not gonna bypass some principles and belief that we feel strongly about," he said, adding that he's "prepared to take responsibility" for bringing down the bill....

President Obama has released what he refers to as a new healthcare reform proposal, but according to Americans United for Life (AUL), it is basically the same dangerous bill.

Staff attorney Mary Harned reports that the president did make some changes to pacify house members, "however, he did not address the abortion language in the Senate bill, and the White House has since acknowledged that what he considers to be the abortion part of his proposal is the same as what's in the senate bill. He's not making any changes to that," she adds.

That means taxpayers would finance abortions, including $11 billion for medical clinics nationwide which could offer abortion. It allows insurance policies that provide abortion coverage to receive government subsidies. The Senate bill also uses Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) to determine the extent of medical care...

Now, comments from a late Friday press conference are surfacing where Pelosi exploits the Catholic bishops to justify her claim.

Obama will also offer another set of changes to the Senate health care bill that currently funds abortions.

While Obama has talked up reconciliation in the past, Gibbs and other top Obama administration officials have been hinting that Obama would officially endorse the process following last week's White House health care summit.
