Leading pro-life and pro-abortion groups are in rare agreement as they say the order is virtually meaningless.

Obama did not sign the companion executive order that Congressman Bart Stupak negotiated to supposedly ban abortion funding under the bill in exchange for several votes that led to passage of the legislation.

During his address to members of Congress before signing the bill, Obama made no mention of the executive order, abortion, or the arrangement he made with Stupak and other Democrats who had been waiting until the last-minute to determine their stance on the bill....

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- With the House passing the pro-abortion health care bill Sunday night and President Barack Obama pledging to sign it into law on Tuesday, pro-life groups, state attorneys general and Republican lawmakers are moving forward with plans to file lawsuits against the bill and repeal it in the next Congress.

Once Obama signs the bill into law, the lawsuits will begin from all corners.

Attorneys General from Florida, South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Pennsylvania, Washington, North Dakota, South Dakota and several other states have already announced plans to file suits against the health care law.

"The health care reform legislation passed by the U. S. House of Representatives this evening clearly violates the U.S. Constitution and infringes on each state's sovereignty," Florida's Attorney General Bill McCollum announced.

Brian Burch, president of CatholicVote.org, said Stupak’s decision to accept the promise of a presidential executive order as a solution to the abortion-funding issue is “unconscionable.”

“The Executive Order fix is a band-aid solution that fails to solve the fundamental problems in this bill, and can be repealed at any time, for any reason, by the president or future presidents. The order is likely to be challenged by pro-abortion groups, and could be struck down by the courts,” Burch said in a news release issued Sunday night...

(CNSNews.com) – The American Center for Law and Justice, a conservative civil liberties group, says it is preparing to file a federal lawsuit challenging the “flawed” health care package that passed the House 219-212 on Sunday night.

The law “fails the American people and does not provide permanent protections for the life of the unborn,” the group said in a Sunday night news release.

The ACLJ said it would file a lawsuit “soon” in federal court, challenging the forced mandate that penalizes Americans who choose not to participate in universal health care. “That is unconstitutional, and we believe ultimately it will be overturned by the courts,” it said.

“The fact remains that the actual health care bill just approved does fund abortion,” ACLJ said...

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new Wall St. Journal poll finds opposition to the pro-abortion Senate health care bill at its highest levels yet, but a top Democrat misrepresented the poll. The new WSJ survey follows a recent Rasmussen poll showing a majority of Americans oppose the bill that will fund and promote abortions.

The Wall St. Journal poll found that opinions have solidified against the government-run health care legislation, with 48% calling it a "bad idea" and 36% viewing it as a "good idea."

The 48 percent saying the bill is a bad idea is an all-time high for the WSJ poll dating back to its first survey on the issue in April 2009.

Those saying it is a good idea are down from its high in September and October, when 38-39 percent of Americans said so....
