California Pastor Blasts Phelps Family "Church"

The funerals have begun in Tucson, including that of a 9 year old girl, Christina Taylor Green. Ironically, this little innocent third grader was born on a day of violence, September 11, 2001, and she died on a day of violence, Saturday, January 8, 2011.  Intruding into the violent tragedy in Arizona that has grieved America, Fred Phelps and his Kansas family planned to come and picket the funeral of the little girl this morning. I saw his raving video where he yells, “God Bless that shooter!  God sent that shooter.”  This is a display of criminal insanity, not Christianity.

The enemies of God happily declare that this is an example of Christianity and that his ‘church’, Westboro Baptist Church is a ‘fundamentalist’ church. Phelps is not a Christian nor his family. He does NOT represent God in any way, nor does he represent pastors, Christians or the church.

His “church” is not a church. Only family members gather in a space, Still, it has worked out for them to be called a ‘church’ with tax exemption. To my knowlege no member of the public attends. The name Baptist is used fraudulently. They are in no way affiliated with the Baptist union. As for as being fundamentalists, that would apply to religion and they are not a legitimate religion.

Tucson Funerals Begin-Fred Phelps Family STAY HOME!

The shooting rampage in Arizona on Saturday underscores our need for God more than ever. As you remember, we allowed a communist in 1963 to push prayer (and God) out of the public schools and ultimately out of public life in general. A year after that insane decision, the federal crime rate increased 100% (actual statistic) in our nation. We kicked God out and terror came in. And this latest violent attack on citizens is a direct result.

Tonight, the funerals begain in Tucson, including that of a 9 year old girl, Christina Taylor Green. Ironically, this little innocent third grader was born on a day of violence, September 11, 2001, and she died on a day of violence, Saturday, January 8, 2011. And now, a hate group plans to demonstrate at her funeral tonight and burial tomorrow!

As this massacre took place, atheist Michael Newdow was nursing another lawsuit he just filed, this time to get rid of our national motto, In God We Trust. This is the same bizarre timing as when he filed the lawsuit to make the Pledge of Allegiance illegal because it had the phrase, “Under God” in it—while we were still finding our dead at the World’s Trade Center.

Commentary: Supreme's Decision Must Not Be as Flawed as Phelps Family

Picketing a funeral for a young man who served our country with signs that seemingly rejoice over the family’s loss is not a case of Free Speech, but a case of crass harassment, and unwarranted public insults coupled with a cruel hazing of a grieving family during the worst time of their lives…burying one of their children.

First of all, that so-called Westboro Baptist Church is in no way affiliated with the Baptist Convention. That “church,” which the left delightfully uses as a stereotype for all Christians, is not a church at all. It consists only of the Phelps family members, but still is enough to grant them tax exempion status as a church.  The Supreme Court must not err by ruling that the Phelps Family had the RIGHT to add to the grief of suffering families by picketing that funeral under the law of Freedom of Speech.

Let’s get this straight once and for all. The First Amendment was implemented by our Founding Fathers to be certain that any citizen could criticize and speak disapproval of the government of The United States without fear of reprisal. PERIOD. Something that could NOT be done in other countries where any stated disapproval of the government could result in beating and a prison sentence. The First Amendment assures that nobody in America will be punished for criticizing the government. Yes, that is repeated, but a point MUST be made. THIS is what the First Amendment Free Speech Rights means and nothing else.
