It Is a Baby NOT Just a Blob of Tissue-Jerry Newcombe on Roe vs.Wade

 1Sides Clash in Abortion Issue

Yesterday, January 22nd, ushered in the annual observation of the most barbaric legal decision in history. On that date, the Supreme Court of The United States, with their case, Roe Vs. Wade, issued a horrendous ruling that officiallly declared a mother's womb a war zone. Over 50 million babies have been slaughtered in their mother's womb since that hideous day, making abortion doctors and facilities wealthy providing selfish women freedom from any inconvenience to their social lives due to irresponsible sex.

This era of our history may one day be judged as the most savage time of all civilization. Americans who believe in the sanctity of life and humane treatment for all, have risen against those demanding pro-choice...the right to choose if the baby being carried is to live or die.

The passionate issue has gone full circle with the majority of Amcricans now opposing abortion on demand. Each year there are growing protests to mark the grim anniversry. On Saturday, the day before, a huge Right To Life March with over 50,000 demonstrators flooded the streets of the most liberal city in America...San Francisco.

MilesEye View of 4th of July--Feature Commentary

Our Founding Fathers had a vision of a country where the people would be the government, putting in political leaders to carry out the will of the people. The government was to be for the people, not to dictate to the people.

A boat load of pilgrims sailed the ocean under primitive conditions and unpredictable circumstances, risking all to leave the oppression of Europe to find a land where they could be free to worship God and to live in a land where they could choose their own future, not having their future determined for them.

Such a place would be worth risking all to reach. They put themselves, their families, and all life's possiblitiles on the line.

When America gained its independance from England, the newly formed government astonished the world as it watched America grow in strength, wealth and power in such a short time.

George Washington said, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

In 1892, the Supreme Court of the United States declared, "These and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation."

Indeed, during the Revolutionary War, Congress imported 20,000 copies of the Bible because "the use of the Bible is so universal, and its importance so great..."

Gavel! This case is settled.

HOWEVER, the Communist Party lost no time in trying to take away the success of a free country and turn it into one of their satellite states living under slavery. read more »

Granting a “Right” to Abortion is Far Above the Supreme Court’s Pay Grade

Recent exposes involving Planned Parenthood and its support of abortions for underage girls have ignited a political firestorm among social conservatives and breathed life into a nation-wide campaign to eliminate taxpayer funding for the “family planning” organization.

Pro-life members of Congress also have introduced legislation to bar government subsidies for abortions and – with narrow exceptions – health plans that cover abortions.  State lawmakers around the country are pushing to ban or to put strict limits on such procedures as well.

Students told to stop praying in front of US Supreme Court

In another stunning example of just how far things have gone in our country when it comes to government's hostility to religion, a group of students were told by officials to stop praying outside of the US Supreme Court.

The group of 15 Christian school students, there on a trip from Arizona, were confronted by a Supreme Court police officer and told that their praying was against the law.

According to a spokesman with the Alliance Defense Fund, the officer's interruption of their prayer was "abrupt", and that "they were told to stop praying because they were violating the law and they had to take their prayer elsewhere".

They did.  They moved down to the sidewalk and stood in the gutter.

Kagan favors "health" exception for abortion

Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan may have accidentally shed some light on her views on abortion by confirming that she supports "health" exceptions to abortion legislation.

Of course abortion advocates usually try to include "health" exceptions in anti-abortion legislation as a way of making the legislation meaningless, as the exceptions almost invariably tend to be large enough as to include anything that deviates from normal, including emotions.

For her part, Kagan essentially stated that she's just fine with that.  (via LifeNews)

During questioning today, pro-abortion Sen. Diane Feinstein of California asked Kagan, "Do you believe that the constitution requires that the health of the mother be upheld?"

"With respect to abortion generally, I think that the continuing holdings of the Court are that a woman's life and women's health must be protected in any abortion legislation," Kagan responded.

Of course this is the exact opposite conclusion drawn by the Supreme Court in 2007 when it upheld the current ban on partial-birth abortion, (which does not have a "health" exception). read more »

AUDIO: Kagan challenged by Supreme Court conservatives over anti-free speech positions

The clip below is a recording from oral argument before the Supreme Court in the Citizens United case, which pitted the government's campaign finance laws vs. the free speech of unions and corporations in political campaigns.  The case was ultimately decided in favor of free speech by a 5 to 4 margin.  Which tells you all you need to know about how tenuous our free speech rights really are.

The audio of Kagan's argument in favor of restricting free speech rights, (including defending the government's right to ban pamphlets if it so chose), should tell you all you need to know about Kagan.

But if you do need more, feel free to view our Kagan Fact Sheet.  And pass it on!

Kagan hearings offer an opportunity

As the Senate Judiciary Committee gets set to start its confirmation hearings for Elena Kagan, the question is no whether she'll eventually be cleared by the committee, (given that it has a majority of Democrats), but whether Republicans will use the hearings as an opportunity to point out her record.  Or even promote a REAL discussion about the proper role of judges in our government.

In the past, Kagan commented that such hearings are usually a farce and that the public doesn't learn much about where judges are really coming from.  Truer words...  So how does she feel about being forthcoming on the issues now??

Republicans should press the issue and ask direct questions and demand direct answers.  Here's a short preview of a longer list of issues they should force her to address: read more »

Pro-abortion group circulating pro-Kagan talking points

The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) is now distributing favorable talking points on Capitol Hill regarding Obama Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan.

Of course this comes as no surprise, given that she's been nominated by a pro-abortion President.  But what is interesting is their attempt to "sell" Kagan as a mainstream judge, despite the fact that during her time in the Clinton White House she worked to find political cover for then President Clinton to veto Congress' ban on partial birth abortion.

Confirmed: Kagan's a liberal (suprise!)

Newly released memos from her days as a law clerk confirm what conservatives have suggested all along - that Elena Kagan is a political liberal whose views are outside of the mainstream in America.  And they are a stark reminder for all Americans that elections have consequences.

Just when poll after poll confirms that Americans are becoming more conservative as well as more pro-life, we're faced with a potential lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court of someone who would likely use the power of the court to interpret and apply the Constitution in such a way as to move the country in the opposite direction.

Via CBS:

...while working as a law clerk to the late Justice Thurgood
Marshall - made her positions clear on some of the nation's most contentious social issues.

The documents, buried in Marshall's papers in the Library of Congress, show Kagan standing
shoulder-to-shoulder with the liberal left,
at a time when the
Rehnquist Supreme Court was moving to the conservative right...

The Marshall documents are legal memos summarizing cases the Court
had been asked to consider. They cover the spectrum of hot-button
social issues: abortion, civil rights, gun rights, prisoners' rights
and the constitutional underpinnings for recognizing gay marriage...

Conservative cheat-sheet on Kagan?

With Obama'a nomination of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to fill Justice Stevens' seat on the high court, the commentary is all over the map.  Some of the most interesting criticism is the supposed liberal complaints that she's not liberal enough.  Uh-huh.  Sounds a lot like the folks in the White House spin lounge are trying to make conservatives feel better by making them think liberals are worried she'll be their version of David Souter.

Not buying it.

On the right side of the aisle, there's plenty to be concerned about, as David Weigel point out today... read more »
