News Briefs Pulled Up: Amber Alert Hoax-Obama's Birthday-Saving Babies, Rev. Johnny Jones-and More

But first, this headlined story tease in today's Irish Central newspaper:

Cavan bishop finally laid to rest in Perth diocese he created
Thursday, August 4, 2011, 4:47 AM
"The Irish bishop credited for the spread of Catholicism in Western Australia was finally buried at the parish he founded after his death 140 years ago." How's that again?  We suppose that anyone who can found a parish 140 years after he died deserves to be in the headlines.

Obama's Birthday is today, or so it is announced. Can we be absolutely sure about this birth date since he won't show us his original birth certificate? Happy Birthday Anyhow.

The Bible says that with faith Christians can move mountains (Mark 11:23). Devout Christian, Art Mijares, isn't trying to move a mountain, he just wants to rename it, Reagan Mountain, instead of Mt. Diablo (devil in Spanish) which suggests that it is a monument to the devil. There have been several hearings in Contra Costa County, California on the issue. There's also been a lot of flack.

Citizen, a publication of Focus on The Family had an interesting editorial in the current issue by Tom Minnery, titled, "Free Speach Could Cost You." He writes: "Today, there is no live-and-let-live attitude by same-sex marriage proponents."

Pennsylvania Case Shows Illogic of Abortion Laws

An awful story out of Pennsylvania gives occasion to think about the illogic of abortion laws in our country and, in this case, how the only difference between homicide and legal activity is the feelings of the would-be mother.

Before we are in the womb, we are known ~take note Notre Dame

It is Written :

Before we are in the womb, we are known.

A Wolverine will kill her young if there is no food.  Necessity is the Mother of invention.

For necessity to be confused with desire is not in Harmony with God's Will.  His bowl of Limited Souls is not ours to reject, is it.

Pro-abortion crowd pushing "UN Convention on Rights of the Child"

Backers of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a United Nations treaty, are pushing Congress to ratify the document during the Obama administration. Although the treaty contains some language supporting unborn children, it has been used to push abortion on an international scale. The Convention on the Rights of the Child "recognizes that a child needs appropriate legal protection before, as well as after birth." At the same time it "doesn't recognize a child's right to be born", and has been used by UN committees, agencies and other non-governmental organizations to promote abortion.  Meanwhile, liberal maintain the treaty won't "usurp our national sovereignty", but will "boost our credibility globally".

Pro-life opponents of the treaty in Congress are fighting back.  Rep. Pete Hoekstra and pro-life Sen. Jim DeMint have filed a parental rights amendment that would defend against some of its provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.  "We better lay the groundwork," Hoekstra told AP. "The last thing you want to be is unprepared if something pops up on the radar screen."  He is concerned that the Senate will have the votes to approve the treaty despite opposition saying it would potentially overturn parental involvement laws across the country.

A Holocaust Survivor's Story

A Holocaust survivor's story

In Germany, when Hitler came to power, it was a time of terrible financial depression. Money was worth nothing. In Germany people lost homes and jobs, just like today. In those days, in my homeland, Adolph Hitler was elected to power by promising "Change." He blamed the "Zionists" around the world for all our problems.

He told everyone it was greedy Zionist Bankers who had caused every problem we had. He promised when he was leader, the greedy Zionist bankers would be punished. The Zionists, he promised, would be wiped off the face of the earth.

So Hitler was elected to power by only 1/3 the popular vote. A coalition of other political parties in parliament made him supreme leader. Then, when he was leader, he disgraced and expelled everyone in parliament who did not go along with him.

Pro-Life Movement Gains Victory on House Floor

It has not been all doom and gloom for the pro-life movement since Barack Obama became president. First, Obama overturned President Ronald Reagan's Mexico City policy (maintained by both Presidents Bush) by executive order. The Mexico City policy requires that all non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which receive federal funding must not perform or promote abortion services, as a method of family planning, in other countries.

Then Obama began naming and installing radically pro-abortion supporters into his cabinet, and nominating last month, as his first U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals nominee, a pro-abortion judge. However, on March 18th, the pro-lfe movement won a 318-105 victory on the floor of the House of Representatives.

Republicans in the House offered a parliamentary procedure called a Motion to Recommit (MTR) on a Democrat bill, H.R. 1388, the so-called "The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act." The Republican MTR sets restrictions on what kinds of groups can participate in federal community service programs. If organizations provide abortions or promote abortions, or engage in lobbying activities, or engage in protesting or union organizing, etc., then they will be barred from being involved with the volunteerism program.

Pro-life students charged with trespassing on their own campus

Normally, when one thinks of trespassing, you think of someone illegally being somewhere they have no right to be, or where they just don't belong.  You don't think of college students being in a public area on their own campus.

It turns out the you can get charged with trespassing at the University of Calgary if you set up a pro-life display - even if you're a student.  Six such students have been charged with trespassing after the University initially approved their display, then seemingly changed course after administrators didn't like the graphic nature of the display.  In other words, the difference between trespassing and not trespassing is the nature of your views.

From Lifenews:

FOCA coming "sooner, rather than later" Democrat says

“Sooner, rather than later.”  That’s when a leading Democrat in Congress says they will introduce the radical pro-abortion “Freedom of Choice Act” – a bill which would overturn all current state and federal restrictions on abortion.  No more waiting periods.  No more parental consent.  No more ban on partial-birth abortions.

When President Obama was campaigning for President, he let it be known in no uncertain terms what his position was on abortion.  Within minutes of taking the Oath of Office, the official White House website was changed to add language supporting pro-abortion policies.  Obama has appointed numerous liberals from pro-abortion organizations like Emily’s List and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) to critical positions in the government.
