Obama's approval at all time low

After a little more than a year in Office, Barack Obama's public approval rating has hit its all time lowest point.

According to the latest Marist poll, only 44% of registered voters "approve" of the job Obama's doing, with 47% disapproving.  The poll also found Obama doing far worse with the all-important "independent" voters, wit only 29% approving and 57% disapproving.

The numbers from Rasmussen take it a step further.  They show 47% approval and 53% disapproval generally, but when you look at how strongly people feel about him one way or another, it gets pretty overwhelming.  It shows 27% "strongly approving", but 40% "strongly disapproving" - meaning Obama's upsidedown by 13 points when it comes to people who feel strongly and are more likely to be tuned in to what's going on.  (And more likely to vote...)

The same poll also shows 75% of voters describing themselves as "angry" about current federal government policies.

Public unmoved by State of the Union speech

The polls are in on the publics response to Obama's first State of the Union speech, and the numbers pretty much speak for themselves.

According to the latest Gallup poll, Obama's job approval is still under the half-way mark, at 48%.  Via LifeNews:

In the three days following the speech, Gallup shows Obama with a 48
percent approval and 46 percent disapproval rating -- unchanged from
before the address.

Philip Klein, a writer at the conservative magazine American Spectator gives
his insight on the poll.

"Going into President Obama's first State of the Union speech,
Gallup noted that annual speeches to Congress rarely affect presidential
approval ratings (in large part because the audience tends to be skewed
toward those who already support him). It turns out that despite his
oratorical skills, our current president is not different in this
respect from his predecessors," he writes. ...

Highlights from the latest polls

59% Say Cut Taxes to Create Jobs, 14% Expect Congress to Listen

The latest survey from Rasmussen shows that 59% of the American people believe that the best way to create jobs is to cut taxes.  But 72% believe that Congress is more likely to raise taxes than to cut them.  Only 14% are optimistic enough to think they will cut taxes.  At the same time, an overwhelming majority believe that Congress will increase spending...which is like betting on the sun coming up in the morning.

How's that for confidence in "representative" government?

Republicans have largest lead on "generic ballot" in seven years

The latest test of the "generic ballot" question, (which asks voters which party they will vote for in the next congressional election), puts Republicans at 46% and Democrats at 37%.  That's the highest the GOP has polled on that question in over seven years.  Also, independent voters lean Republican by 46% to 24%...which goes a long way to explain why Scott Brown is now US Senator Scott Brown.

Compare this to how things looked a year ago, when Democrats where up by seven points.  A net swing of sixteen after just one year of Barack Obama.

Chart shows growing opposition to Obamacare over past few months

The following chart from Pollster.com gives you a good view of the growing opposition to Obamacare by the American public over time.

In fact, you can pretty much track the red "oppose" line with the increasing amount of details about the proposed versions of "reform" that began to sink in with people.

Which explains why Obama and the Democrats are in such a hurry to get it passed.

Some Interesting Poll Numbers

Despite the fact that he won Pennsylvania by ten points last year (after campaigning there 45 times), Barack Obama is finding the state to be a little less hospitable lately. The latest poll from that state shows Obama with only a 40% approval rating. Longtime Senator (and newly minted Democrat) Arlen Specter is at an amazingly low 29%, (66% say it's time for a new senator). It should also be noted that the Keystone State's unemployment numbers (at 8.4%) are two full points LOWER than the national average.

When you add this to the fact that voters in that just elected Republican judges in 6 out of 7 statewide races a few weeks ago, it looks like trouble on the 2010 horizon for Democrats there. And even though he's not on the ballot next year, it might be enough to give pro-life Democrat Senator Bob Casey something to think twice about when it comes to abortion and Obamacare...and how he votes.

Conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states according to new Gallup poll

Just in case you're tempted to get distracted by all that talk from the White House, Nancy Pelosi, etc. about how all those people showing up at townhall meetings really don't represent America, well it seems the numbers tell a different story:

Self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals in all 50 states of the union, according to the Gallup Poll.

At the same time, more Americans nationwide are saying this year that they are conservative than have made that claim in any of the last four years.

In 2009, 40% percent of respondents in Gallup surveys that have interviewed more than 160,000 Americans have said that they are either "conservative" (31%) or "very conservative" (9%). That is the highest percentage in any year since 2004.

Only 21% have told Gallup they are liberal, including 16% who say they are "liberal" and 5% who say they are "very liberal."

Thirty-five percent of Americans say they are moderate.

And, of course, we know that most "moderates" tend to be conservatives who are worried about running afoul of political correctness if they admit it.

Yet another poll shows majority of Americans pro-life

For the third time in a month, another poll hase come out demonstrating that a majority of the American public is pro-life.

Earlier this week it was the Gallup poll that got the headlines, as it was the first time in that polls history that it showed over half of the public as holding a pro-life position.

Also this month, there was a Fox News poll, indicating the same thing...more Americans are pro-life than "pro-choice".

Well now we have a third poll, this one from Rasmussen, which should put to rest exactly "how" most Americans feel about the issue.  From the story:

The Rasmussen survey, released on May 5, asked a different question than the others and found that 58 percent of Americans say abortion is morally wrong most of the time. Just twenty-five percent disagree and the rest had no opinion.

The survey found women are more strongly pro-life than men as 64 percent of women believe most abortions are morally wrong, a view shared by just 51% of men.

Gallup poll shows majority of Americans are pro-life

While there have been many, many polls on the abortion issue over the years, and many that have shown more people holding a pro-life vs. a "pro-choice" position, this is the first time in the history of the Gallup polling company, that their poll has shown that a majority of the American people are pro-life.  From the story:

Gallup said on Friday that a new poll, conducted May 7 to 10, found "51 percent of Americans calling themselves 'pro-life' on the issue of abortion and 42 percent 'pro-choice.' This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995."

"The new results, obtained from Gallup's annual Values and Beliefs survey, represent a significant shift from a year ago, when 50 percent were pro-choice and 44 percent pro-life. Prior to now, the highest percentage identifying as pro-life was 46 percent, in both August 2001 and May 2002." ...

Latest poll

I noticed that in the "latest poll" the results of 'what is most important to you' are headed in the right direction, but I think we should focus on the one specific area that controls the rest.

THE JUDICIARY!!!!

If we fail to maintain a favorable majority in the judiciary all other efforts will be moot. Like it or not, the judiciary is the governmental branch that controlls the direction of the Nation. It wasn't designed that way but has mutated to the present abboration of the Constitution.
