liberals

A sneak peak at Liberaltopia

Have you ever really thought about what a Liberal Utopia would look like?  Meaning, the way things would look if every impulse liberals ever had about how to order society was suddenly a reality.

Let’s call it “Liberaltopia”.

Income taxes would be unheard of, as nobody would pay them, except the few productive members of society who would happily work and pay their “fair share” of the excessive taxes that would fund Liberaltopia for everyone else.

The fiscal policies would be totally reckless, resulting in tremendous annual deficits despite (or because of) the draconian tax rates, so it would be forced to borrow from more productive countries.  (Sound familiar?)

Liberals celebrate "Day of Rage" tomorrow; Rest of America celebrates "Constitution Day"

It is hard to believe, but we increasingly have two separate Americas.  Many liberals have their "government knows best" and "America is bad" positions and the rest of Americans believe in America's exceptionalism. Tomorrow, many liberals will "celebrate" something socialists, communists and anarchists around the world call a "Day of Rage".  They want to fight "market dictatorship."  They want an end to capitalism and the free enterprise system in America and around the world.  In America, they will "take to the streets"  and protest at Wall Street in New York City.

On the other hand, many other Americans will be celebrating America and the United States Constitution.   Christian Coalition of America has, during the month of September, been encouraging all Americans to read the entire constitution on Constitution Day, 2011 being celebrated on Saturday, September 17.

Liberals like to forget that the Constitution of the United States is the Supreme law of the land.   On September 17, 1787, the Founding Fathers established  --  at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, presided over by George Washington   --  the Constitution as the framework for organizing the federal government.

The "Father of the Constitution," and future president, James Madison, had many great quotes about the Constitution including these:

MilesTones Valentine's Day Special--Worst Case of Tongue-tied Communication Ever Recorded!

The Grammy Awards last night blasted the airwaves with a cacophony of sounds created to soothe jangled emotions of savage beasts and test the endurance of civilization at large. The expectation that Lady Gaga would sing a duet with Justin Bieber proved to be just a rumor. Pity. In an attempt to orate an in-depth analysis of the event, one challenged TV news reporter became hopelessly entangled in the worst case of tongue-tied communication ever recorded. Our thanks to up and coming musician, Michael Teeter, for catching this and sending it to MilesTones. Click on the link below to see and hear it:

According to Rev. Ed Berkey (retired) if you are unsure about politics,  consult The Bible. He sent this dispatch: “I have often wondered why the conservatives are called, ” The Right,” and the Liberals are called, “The Left”  That can be settled by Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV): “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.” Guess that settles it.

New study shows liberals just don't get economics

A new study was just concluded that took a look at how well people understood basic facts of economics, then asked them about their politics.  When the results of the economics quiz were cross-referenced with the politics of the respondents, the results seemed to bear out what conservatives have said about liberals for years - they just don't understand economics.

But now we have some researchers backing up our intuitions and
observations who hail from a place that's overwhelmed
with liberal thought - academia.

(via the Washington Times)

Americans describing themselves as conservative, very conservative and libertarian "do reasonably well" when asked about basic economic questions involving supply, demand and the effects of regulation, concluded Mr. Klein, an economics professor at George Mason University, and Ms. Buturovic, an associate researcher with the polling firm Zogby International.

"But the left has trouble squaring economic thinking with their political psychology, morals and aesthetics," the two write.

Review: Screen Actor's Guild Awards Show SAGed!

It was a silence heard aroung the world. At least the awards show proved effective in staging a tragedy. It was so bad that nobody even mentioned it in the press. The critics refused to draw their pens to write a review of the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) effort. Instead, they slipped away quietly into the night following the worst presentation ever to fill a television screen. Somebody's got to report on it. Somebody not involved in Hollywood's liberal causes. That's us. And this is one time that MilesTones is serious.

The Screen Actor's Guild Awards Program that aired this last weekend, absolutely SAG-ed. Uneven, badly produced with actors who looked like a deer caught in the headlights as they accepted their 'awards' and who peppered their speechis with "um..uh...anduh....um..um..um."

Betty White received the lifetime achievment award and was funny, but she just had to add in some crude sexual inuendos that were not becoming. Drew Barrymore did a complete melt down, and for the first couple of minutes could not put a sentence together; On the verge of panic, she stammered uncomfortably and could only stutter, um...um, uh,um, um....uh. It was not an act .It was a true melt down. Other actors shown in the audience displayed an incredible attitude during the show.

Liberal tolerance on display in Massachusetts Senate race

Just how "tolerant" are liberal Democrats in Massachusetts?  Check out the video below and you'll get an idea.

This from people who say conservatives are intolerant.

Conservatives outnumber liberals in all 50 states according to new Gallup poll

Just in case you're tempted to get distracted by all that talk from the White House, Nancy Pelosi, etc. about how all those people showing up at townhall meetings really don't represent America, well it seems the numbers tell a different story:

Self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals in all 50 states of the union, according to the Gallup Poll.

At the same time, more Americans nationwide are saying this year that they are conservative than have made that claim in any of the last four years.

In 2009, 40% percent of respondents in Gallup surveys that have interviewed more than 160,000 Americans have said that they are either "conservative" (31%) or "very conservative" (9%). That is the highest percentage in any year since 2004.

Only 21% have told Gallup they are liberal, including 16% who say they are "liberal" and 5% who say they are "very liberal."

Thirty-five percent of Americans say they are moderate.

And, of course, we know that most "moderates" tend to be conservatives who are worried about running afoul of political correctness if they admit it.

To Lead Astray…Even The Elect

Bush in Review (part One)

The President is winding down a turbulent eight year ride, on the bus, in front of the bus, and ultimately under the bus. President Bush has been a convenient punching bag and the butt of a joke that never grows old. The dust will settle and all the present Hollywood wienies will hang up their soap boxes and return to the comfort of their multi-million dollar mansions in Malibu. Retiring in safe comfort, afforded by the blood of the patriots they so viciously criticized. Their fate will eventually reside on the back of a DVD box in the $5.00 grab bin at Wal-Mart. President Bush, however, might finally receive the credit he deserves.
