Can I just wonder out loud for a moment?

If President elect Obama were a Republican, (I know it is blasphemy to even speak such things), but if he were….what would the level of outrage be from the left regarding recent as well as pre-election events and allegations? Most recently, there are charges that the Governor of Illinois attempted to “sell” Obama’s senate seat. There are also claims that Obama won his senate seat by those tactics as well. I can imagine the calls for investigations, special prosecutors, and demands for impeachment and imprisonment based on allegations alone. Ironic too, that the famed Patrick Fitzgerald of “Scooter” Libby fame is handling the investigation. I vividly recall the left cheering him on as he hounded Libby for “outing” Valerie Plame even though Fitzgerald KNEW that he wasn’t the source. Fitzgerald knew full well that Richard Armitage leaked the name to Robert Novak, but proceeded anyway. America voted for change in November, and from what I have seen and heard since election day, I fear we will be getting a lethal dose of it beginning January 20, 2009.

Regretfully, things are seldom the way they should, and much less as we would ideally like them to be. Therefore, if we want to resolve a problem we have no other choice but facing it head on, even if we have to pinch sensitive nerves focusing on the taboo issues that invariably annoy our sacred cows and their interests.

Digging into my elephant's memory I recalled the last few months of George Bush Father's campaign for the Republican nomination. Although he never used this slogan, it was very popular among his not-so-conservative followers: "We've got to stop Governor Reagan because he's too conservative". Remember?
