On Friday of last week, the infamous 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco - the nation's most leftist and ineffective appeals court - continued its anti-Christian jihad as it refused to rehear the case of the Mount Soledad War Memorial Cross being removed by various liberal state and federal judges.  This beautiful 29-foot cross sits on public land on a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean which has been seen by countless millions over the decades.  It was dedicated in 1954 in honor of Korean War veterans. 
 
The equally infamous American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) - a rabidly anti-Christian organization - has been fighting to get this war memorial cross removed for over a decade.  The ACLU and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals have been working in tandem to rid God and Christianity from the public square.
 

On Monday, federal judge Royce Lamberth of the U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. correctly ruled that the Obama administration is not obeying the 1996 law which outlawed the destruction of human embryonic stem cells. In March 2009, the president issued an executive order expanding federal funding of human embryo research.

Judge Lamberth ruled that the federal funding by the Obama administration for such research violated a 1996 law prohibiting federal money for research in which an embryo was destroyed. Today's "The Wall Street Journal" reported that opponents of Obama's federal funding for human embryonic stem cell destruction research said that such research "leads to the destruction of the embryo" which "is tantmount to taking a life, and have opposed such experiments on ethical grounds."

In the article, David Stevens, executive director of the Christian Medical Association is quoted as saying: "People forget that each one of us was an embryo, and if someone destroyed us for biological parts, we wouldn't be around today." He also was quoted by LifeNews.com saying, "This case highlights the harm that diverting federal funds away from proven effective research poses to those patients who are waiting for cures. We are grateful that the Court also recognizes the clarity of the law and the harm that funding illegal and unethical embryo-destroying research poses to ethical researchers."

The Great Chicken Trial of Brentwood is nearing its final hearing in what has been described as the REAL 'Trial of the Century' (not OJs in his Brentwood, but the one here in the East Bay of Northern California). The incident started over a young woman who kept two hens in her backyard, which outraged a neighbor who charged the hens with poop-bombing HER yard which would bring fatal diseases into her house and throughout the neighborhood...

The dispute was heard before the Brentwood planning Commission during the week of January 4th, which spurred newspapers and internet news sites to send reports of the trial around the world, making the chickens famous, even though their names were with-held due to their ages.         

At the same time, a similar case was brought in Oakland where the hens won...YES!...and resulted in Oakland declaring itself a "Chicken Friendly City." As reported by the Contra Costa Times (1/10/10), since the declaration was passed, the sounds of saws and hammers can be heard in the backyards of Oakland as everyone is now building chicken coops. Yes! Power to the chickens!

The Brentwood case first went before the City Planning Commission and having passed that hurdle, is now scheduled for the final round of the dispute before the Brentwood City Council Meeting on Tuesday evening, January 26th, presided over by Mayor Bob Taylor.  There will probably be many ruffled feathers to smooth during the caged proceedings.

Barack Obama's first nominee to be on the federal circuit court of appeals, David Hamilton, who is appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, needs to be defeated.  He was nominated to be a judge on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.  Hamilton was given a "Not Qualified" rating by the liberal American Bar Association in 1994 when Bill Clinton nominated him to be a federal district judge.  Hamilton is even more unqualified to be a federal appeals judge and Senators should vote no on his nomination. 

Hamilton is a former ACLU board member whose voting record as a federal district judge mirrors that fact.  Indeed, in 2005, when the ACLU brought a lawsuit before him, Hamilton ruled that the Indiana state legislature could not begin their sessions with Christian prayers.  His decision, which was overruled by an appeals court, dictated that invocations could not use names such as Jesus Christ or "savior."  He is too radical to be confirmed by the Senate."

David Hamilton's judicial rulings favored criminals such as in the case in which he struck down a part of an Illinois law which would have forced registered sex offenders to notify authorities of their email addresses and user names.  This radical judge was reprimanded by an appeals court after he ruled against Indiana's informed consent law on abortion.  Barack Obama must not be allowed to turn the federal judiciary into his own image.

If there was any doubt that Barack Obama intends to turn the federal judiciary into a left-wing activist one, those doubts were put to rest in Obama's decision today to appoint as his first judicial nominee, David Frank Hamilton, a judicial activist judge hostile to Christianity and a radical on abortion. Hamilton was nominated to the 7th United States Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 1994, Bill Clinton nominated Hamilton to be a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and he was confirmed by the Senate by the Democrat-controlled Senate. Even the liberal American Bar Association gave Hamilton a "not qualified" rating at the time. And this is the guy who Obama chose for his first judicial nominee to the next highest court under the United States Supreme Court.

In an obvious, and successful, attempt to impress the next liberal Democrat president, Hamilton in 2005 ruled that the Indiana state legislature could not begin their sessions with Christian prayers. An appeals court overruled his judicial activist decision. Of course, the infamous ACLU had brought the lawsuit before Judge Hamilton, figuring he was an easy mark. Obama's first judicial nominee in his decision said that invocations must not use names such as Jesus Christ or Christian terminology such as savior. And by the way, Hamilton was a board member of the ACLU in Indiana.
