You will not believe WHO is taking part in the debate about Santa Claus that some say is a good influence on children while others say he should be abolished and the whole focus on Christmas should be ONLYabout Jesus. The atheists say that there should not be ANY Christmas observance, period! An unexpected visitor came by the studio to leave this message for the entire world which should settle the dispute once and for all. Beer Drinking Santa?

Columnist Jay R. Brooks whose column, “Brooks on Beer,” came up with a stein-full with the headline of his syndicated story, “Jolly Old St. Nick a Patron Saint of Beer” (Contra Costa Times-12/8/10).  And there are some brewers who have Santa’s image on their label. St. Nicholas was the Bishop of Myra, who inspired the creation of Santa Claus.  Mr. Brooks’ story is all based on the notion that the Bishop, who later became a Saint, was ‘appointed’ The Patron Saint of Beer. He was also ‘appointed’ Patron Saint of 110 other groups,  including children, his best known title and one which he would approve. read more »

Santa's Surprising Origins--A Christmas Classic Feature

(Editor's Note: This story was first published on December 20, 2001. It has been picked up and re-published all over the world every year since, becoming a Holiday Tradition. In 2004, it caught the attention of producers of Hallmark Films and the writer was cast in the movie, Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus, playing The Mall Santa who magically receives the gift of sign language. The film is re-aired annually.)

He is loveable, congenial, giving and jolly. What's more he knows everything, as any child will readily testify. He is a colorful old man, whose visits are eagerly awaited by millions of children each year and who, for a little while, makes the world a much happier place.

Is Santa Claus a good influence on children, or a bad influence whose image merely commercializes Christmas and who takes the reason out of the season, as some charge?

Where did Santa come from? It will surprise many to learn that Santa Claus (as we know him today) came out of the church itself through the charity of a very devout and caring priest. Now bear in mind that this is a true, historically documented account.
