Air Force Academy graduate and former Navy Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt who lost his job in the Navy because he refused to stop praying in the name of Jesus has now organized an event this Saturday for 6 Virginia police chaplains who were told to stop praying in the name of Jesus. Indeed, these courageous Christian chaplains were forced to resign because they prayed in the name of Jesus. Chaplain Klingenschmitt is the event organizer for Saturday's state-wide prayer rally outside the Democrat Governor, Tim Kaine's mansion at 10 a.m.
In a related matter, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday ruled that legislative chaplains have the constitutional right to pray in the name of Jesus, even in government forums. Chaplain Klingenschmitt said that: "The 11th circuit court authorized 'sectarian' prayers at government hosted events, ruling in Pelphrey v. Cobb County, 'We refuse to embark on a sensitive evaluation or to parse the content of a particular prayer...Whether invocations...are ‘sectarian’ is best left to theologians, not courts of law.' This new ruling directly contradicts the 4th circuit court ruling in Turner v. Fredericksburg, which had banned the word 'Jesus' as illegal speech."
Chaplain Klingenschmitt added: “This ruling proves Virginia Governor Tim Kaine wrongly prohibits his state police chaplains from praying publicly ‘in Jesus name,’” and his administration was wrong to force six chaplains to resign for the crime of praying ‘sectarian’ prayers in public. The Governor violated the chaplains’ constitutional rights.”
It is unbelievable that the left-wing Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has refused to reinstate these outstanding Virginia state trooper chaplains, even after receiving a request by 86 pastors in Virginia. Chaplain Klingenschmitt said that "The 'Virginia, Stand Up For Jesus!' prayer rally is open to the public, on Saturday from 10-11am (arrive 9:30) at the Capitol Square Bell Tower (900 Bank Street), Richmond.
