The Republican Party has gained even more ground over the Democrats, according to the latest Gallup poll.
The weekly Gallup survey shows that the GOP leads 51 percent to 41 percent among registered voters. The 10-point lead is the largest for Republicans in Gallup's history of tracking the generic preference for Congress.
The latest survey is based upon a survey of registered voters conducted from Aug. 23 - 29.
The generic ballot poll is used as a predictor of the national vote for Congress. Gallup, one of America's oldest pollsters, has been tracking the generic preference since 1942.
