Democrats' Cynical Move Putting "Hate Crimes" in Defense Bill
Press Release

Washington, D.C. - In one of the most cynical moves in congressional history, the Senate Democrat leadership intends to include so-called "hate crimes" -- what many call "thought crimes" -- legislation into the National Defense Authorization Act legislation, S. 1390, Christian Coalition of America condemns this politically partisan move which attempts to make conservative and moderate Senators choose between funding our troops or voting for the abominable "hate crimes" legislation.
The Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Carl Levin, Democrat from Michigan, has confirmed that he intends to include "hate crime" legislation into the National Defense Authorization Act bill within a few days. Including sexual orientation in the "hate crimes" bill has long been a goal of the homosexual movement.
With such fanatical partisanship, the Democrat-controlled 111th Congress has moved further to the left than all of the previous 110 Congresses. It is quite puzzling as to why the Democrat leadership wants to put some of their less liberal Senators into political peril such as Democrat Senators Blanche Lincoln, (Arkansas); Evan Bayh (Indiana); Mary Landrieu (Louisiana); Byron Dorgan (North Dakota); Bob Casey (Pennsylvania); Tim Johnson (South Dakota); Jim Webb (Virginia); and Mark Warner (Virginia).
Christian Coalition of America is encouraging Americans who believe in family values and religious liberty to immediately call both of their Senators to tell them to vote no on the National Defense Authorization Act, S. 1390, if the Democrats do indeed cynically include "Hate Crimes" legislation in the defense bill.
