WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Christian Coalition of America condemns the second state top court this decade -- the California Supreme Court -- for their abominable 4-3 decision today approving homosexual "marriages." Today's decision follows the Massachusetts' top court's decision in 2003; also a narrow 4-3 decision. Christian Coalition of America urges presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Barack Obama to strongly condemn this judicial usurpation of power by out-of-control judges.

Just as the state marriage amendment on the ballot in Ohio affected the presidential election in 2004, this outrageous decision by these 4 judicial tyrants in California will undoubtedly affect the decision by California voters in the presidential election. Indeed, the California referendum on banning homosexual "marriages" is anticipated to greatly increase the turn-out of pro-family Americans and influence the congressional elections.

It is outrageous that a small majority on the California Supreme Court just could not wait until November when the citizens of California will undoubtedly vote to approve the ban of homosexual "marriages" in the state of California. Instead these 4 judicial tyrants substituted their perverse opinion for the will of the citizens of California. Indeed, the voters in California overwhelmingly voted for traditional marriage - that between one man and one woman - with a huge majority of 62% several years ago.

The overwhelming majority of Americans (some 70%) disapprove of homosexual "marriages." Yet, these judicial tyrants in California and Massachusetts have substituted their dictates for the will of the citizens of their states. Thus far, 27 states have passed constitutional amendments banning homosexual "marriage" with an average approval rate of 70%. The voters in Florida, Arizona, and California will likely approve similar bans on homosexual "marriages" this November, thereby nullifying this terrible decision today in California.

These dictatorial decisions by 4 judicial tyrants in the state of Massachusetts and by 4 judicial tyrants in the state of California today will not stand. The Christian Coalition of America will do everything in its power to pass a Federal Marriage Amendment in the United States Congress-- and state constitutional amendments in each of the 23 states which do not yet have them -- thereby banning homosexual "marriages" all over America.
