Christian Coalition of America Applauds U.S. Senate for Bipartisan Confirmation of Justice Sam Alito
Washington, D.C. -- Christian Coalition of America commends the Senate's bipartisan support for the confirmation of Justice Sam Alito to the United States Supreme Court.
Roberta Combs, President of the Christian Coalition of America, said after today's vote, "Christian Coalition is pleased that the United States Senate, with a vote of 58-42, confirmed Justice Alito in a bipartisan manner. We believe that Justice Alito has a track record that proves he will respect the U.S. Constitution and the laws of our land. Once again President Bush has fulfilled his promise to appoint judges in the mold of Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas to our federal judiciary.
Christian Coalition has created a Judicial Task Force to ensure that the U.S. Senate allows fair "up or down" votes on all nominees to the federal judiciary. Pro-family and pro-life Americans must continue to speak up and have their voices heard in this process as the Senate debates and votes on the new Supreme Court justice nominee, so that the next nominee does indeed receive an "up or down" vote on the Senate floor.
