Dorthy, we are not to compromise the Bible's teachings for the sake of avoiding conflict. Standing up for what is right WILL result in conflict. Jesus said in Matthew 10:34-35 (American Standard Version) "Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law:" The question of allowing homosexuals to openly serve in the military is a military-readiness issue. If homosexuals reveal their perverted lifestyle to fellow soldiers, their chance of survival on the battlefield will be reduced.
