The Supreme Court is delaying the start of same-sex marriage in Virginia.
The court on Wednesday granted a request from a county clerk in northern Virginia to block same-sex marriages across the state while the issue is being appealed to the Supreme Court. The court provided no explanation for its order.
Pro-life pharmacists in Washington are continuing their fight against a state regulation that would force them to provide medication that could kill an unborn child.
The Washington Board of Pharmacy passed a regulation in 2005 requiring pharmacists to stock and dispense Plan B, commonly referred to as the "morning-after" pill. But Erik Stanley, senior counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund, says the regulation is morally and constitutionally wrong. He argues that the regulation trumps a pharmacist's right to conscientiously object what he or she believes is the taking of a human life.
Although it was set up to provide reproductive healthcare to the poor, Planned Parenthood is building large and small facilities in suburban areas where money is more available.
Planned Parenthood is funded in part by federal tax dollars for the purpose of providing reproductive health services, including abortion, to those who cannot afford it. Marie Hahnenberg of American Life League (ALL) has observed the agency's trend moving to suburbia where money flows more freely.
