Senator Sam Brownback Applauds President George W. Bush for Signing into Law the Bipartisan "Prenatally and Postnatally Diagnosis Conditions Awareness Act"
President George W. Bush yesterday signed the "Prenatally and Postnatally Diagnosis Conditions Awareness Act," S. 1810, into law, a bill which was authored by Senators Sam Brownback, R-KS, and Ted Kennedy, D-MA. Ironically, considering Congress is controlled by Democrats, it was yet another pro-life bill signed into law by President Bush; a bill which is focused on reducing the number of abortions done on disabled unborn children.
Currently, 90 percent of children pre-natally diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. That percentage is similar for children pre-natally diagnosed with other conditions such as spina bifida, cystic fibrosis and dwarfism. Senator Brownback said after President Bush signed his bill: "President Bush signed into law a bill that will help an untold number of expecting parents who learn that their unborn child may be born with a disability. This is a great victory for the culture of life we should all seek to promote. Currently, 90 percent of children pre-natally diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. That number is much too high and suggests that we as a society are not doing everything we can to protect every human life, at every stage.â€
S.1810 requires that families who receive a diagnosis of Down syndrome or any other condition, pre-natally or up until a year after birth, be given up-to-date information about the nature of the condition and connection with support services and networks that could offer assistance.
Senators Ted Kennedy and Sam Brownback deserve praise for getting the United States Congress to pass their "Prenatally and Postnatally Diag.Cond. Awareness Act." The Democrat-controlled 110th Congress is noted for what it has not accomplished. In fact, it has been so unsuccessful in attending to the business of the American people, that it has a record-low 9% to 12% approval rating. On their watch, just in one year's time, the stock market has crashed by 40%! However, just weeks before the November election, these two Senators on the opposite ends of the political spectrum worked together and got a wonderful bill signed into law this week.
California Proposition #8 to Ban Homosexual "Marriages" Attracting Huge Amounts of Money ($41.2 Million)/ALL other (27) Previous States Have Approved Such Bans by an Average of 70%/Google Endorses This Abominable Proposition/Connecticut Supreme Court Today Allows Homosexuals to "Marry", Becoming 3rd Court to do so
The "Washington Times" on Wednesday reported that supporters and opponents of Proposition #8 on California's ballot next month -- which will ban homosexual "marriages" and essentially nullify the thousands which have occurred since the infamous 4-3 decision by the California Supreme Court "legalizing" such "marriages," -- are spending over $41 million. Thankfully, supporters of the ban on homosexual "marriages" have raised the most money (over $25 million through Sept. 30th of htis year.)
Frank Schubert, co-manager of the homosexual "marriage" ban campaign said: "It shows there is tremendous grassroots support for what we are trying to do." More than 60,000 people and businesses have donated to the pro-traditional marriage side. The states of Florida and Arizona also have ballot initiatives to ban homosexual "marriage." Thus far, 27 states have passed such bans by an astounding average vote of 70%. Thus, it is expected that there will be 30 states in November which have banned this abominable practice begun in Massachusetts and copied by California only recently.
The Internet company, Google, actually came out in support of this despicable proposition. They rarely if ever, have supported any proposition. So they have come out for the most radical idea: homosexual "marriages." Christian Coalition of America supporters of course have many other alternatives to using the services of Google.
In a disgusting undemocratic move today, the Connecticut Supreme Court illegally ruled from the bench that homosexuals could "marry." The state of Connecticut now becomes the 3rd state to have judicial dictators legislating the definition of marriage from the bench. This makes the vote in California in 3 weeks even more important to win; for Americans to make a stand against these godless judicial tyrants.
ACTION ITEM: Please contact the co-founder and President, Technology, Sergey Brin, to urge him to withdraw Google's support for this abominable Proposition. Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, Phone: +1 650-253-0000, Fax: +1 650-253-0001
ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!
Democrats Expunge God from the New U.S. Capitol Building Visitor Center; "In God We Trust" out of Vogue with Democrats
Despite efforts to reach out to the religious community "to expand their base," the Democrats in control of Congress continue to get it wrong. On October 2nd, "The Washington Times" reported in an article entitled "Visitor Center said to slight religion," that more than 100 members of Congress are blasting the overseers (and hence the Democrats) of the soon-to-be-open Capitol Visitor Center for "censoring God, faith and religion."
Congressman J. Randy Forbes, a Republican from Virginia, and 107 other Members of the House of Representatives, sent a letter to the Architect of the Capitol's Office protesting that the national motto "In God We Trust" appears nowhere in the new visitors center which is mostly underground. Some 15,000 daily visitors are expected once the visitors center opens in December, years late, and tens of millions of American tax dollars over budget.
These Republicans are upset that the Democrats who control Congress also have not allowed any photos of the annual National Day of Prayer or the March for Life events. However, the Democrats have found space for an AIDS rally and an Earth Day celebration.
David Barton, one of the leading historians regarding America's Christian history, states that the visitors center is rife with historical errors; of all places, just steps away from the Library of Congress. He says that not only does the visitors center censor God and religion from America's history, but "it also contains basic historical errors about the war of 1812, the Bill of Rights, the Constitutional separation of powers, and many other simple topics.
"For example, in presenting the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, Visitor Center officials actually deleted the words 'religion and morality' from the document. And, in presenting images of the current Speaker's Rostrum in the House Chamber, they deliberately omitted the phrase 'In God We Trust' from its prominent location engraved in marble above the Speaker's head. There are many other examples...."
It is time for the Democrats who control Congress to return God to the United States Capitol Building and a good beginning would be to listen to the complaints of these 108 Members of Congrss who want "In God We Trust" and other references to God's involvement in our Nation's history returned to their rightful place.
Supporters of Assisted Suicide Have Over $600,000 to Spend on a Ballot Initiative (#1000) Allowing such an Abomination in Washington State
LifeNews.com reported yesterday that Washington State will have a ballot initiative, #1000, allowing assisted suicide on the November 4th ballot. If that state approves this abomination, it will become the second state to do so after Oregon. Supporters of this assisted suicide initiative have over $600,000 more to spend in advertising, etc.
The local group promoting Initiative 1000 has received most of its money from its fellow euthanasia groups and eight out of state donors according to LifeNews.com. "While assisted suicide backers claim the Catholic Church and pro-life groups are pouring money into the state, the pro-assisted suicide group has raised $2.647 million compared to just $847,447 for the Coalition Against Assisted Suicide.
"Brian Johnston, the head of the California Pro-Life Council and an author of a seminal book on assisted suicide, urges pro-life advocates to get involved in the debate in Washington. 'Because of the importance of the Presidential race, what is happening in Washington is under the radar, but it should not be ignored by pro-life voters,' he told LifeNews.com. 'Most of the pro-death support is coming from out of state. We should do the same.'"
Many Pastors Across America Defy the Internal Revenue Service and Endorse Senator John McCain from Their Pulpits Last Sunday on "Pulpit Freedom Sunday"
A number of pastors last Sunday defied the regulations of the Internal Revenue Service and endorsed Senator John McCain for president. LifeNews.com reported that on "Pulpit Freedom Sunday," pastors all around America joined in a concerted effort to overturn a decades-long rule prohibiting endorsements from the pulpit.
This rule was put into effect in 1954 by Senator Lyndon Baines Johnson, a liberal Democrat from Texas, because he was upset with some groups which opposed his candidacy and he got it passed to get even. LifeNews.com reported that: "Pastor Luke Emrich of New Life Church in West Bend, Wisconsin told his congregation on Sunday that he supports Senator John McCain because of his pro-life position on abortion.
"Rev. Ron Johnson Jr. also joined in the national campaign, known as 'Pulpit Freedom Sunday,' and he is the senior associate pastor at Living Stones Church in Crown Point, Indiana. Johnson also said abortion is the key issue in the campaign for Christian voters and highlighted the division between Obama and McCain. 'If a candidate supports something that is evil and wicked from a biblical perspective,' Johnson said, 'then I have the right to call out the wickedness, and I have the right to say this is what this person stands for -- this is wrong.'
"The Rev. Jody Hice of Bethlehem First Baptist Church outside of Atlanta also endorsed McCain and said he based his recommendations on McCain’s opposition to abortion compared to Obama’s strongly pro-abortion position. 'These are not political issues,†Hice said. 'There are moral issues.'"
Christian Coalition Activists Need to Encourage 110th Congress to Pass Both "Net Neutrality" and "Multicast/Equal Access" Legislation to Prevent Discrimination Against Religious Broadcasters /Democrat-controlled Congress Expected to Pass "Net Neutrality"
ACTION ITEM: Please contact your Congressman at 202-225-3121 or you can go to our Contact Your Elected Officials Page and email them and urge them to co-sponsor the Net Neutrality legislation introduced by Republican Congressman Charles "Chip" Pickering and Democrat Congressman Edward Markey called the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008," H.R. 5353.
"Multicast/Equal Access" (formerly called "Multicast/Must-carry") will go a long way to preventing discrimination against religious broadcasters. Without a "Multicast/Equal Access" law, the cable and satellite companies would probably not add new Christian channels and the influence of current Christian channels will be diluted.
ACTION ITEM: Please continue to ask your Members of Congress to support “Multicast/Equal Access†and religious broadcasters. Call your Congressman and 2 Senators at 202-225-3121 or you can go to our Contact Your Elected Officials Page and email them and let them know we need a “Multicast/Equal Access" legislation.
Please keep the above issues in prayer. Through prayer and action great and mighty things can be accomplished.
