President Obama selects an extreme left-wing partisan for Supreme Court
As expected, President Barack Obama went far to the left to select, as his first Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, an Hispanic left-wing extremist. As Supreme Court watcher Tim O'Brien said this morning, Judge Sotomayor will be the most liberal justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Judge Sotomayor laughingly told an audience that we make policy from the bench which should satisfy the president's desire to have judges make their decisions based on empathy and not on the law. However, the symbol of justice in America is blind-folded which means that justice is blind and decisions by judges should be based on the law and not on emotions.
Right out of the box, contrary to the president's campaign promises -- to govern from the center, to reach out to his opponents, to establish a post-partisan presidency -- Obama has broken those promises and his Supreme Court selection is the latest example of his administration governing from the extreme left... "No Bible studies in your home," says California county
Religious rights in America continue to deteriorate. A San Diego pastor and his wife have been told by county officials to stop holding Bible studies in their home. According to Fox News' Special Report on Thursday night, they have been subjected to interrogation and threatened with fines if they continue to hold Bible studies in their home. They have about ten to fifteen participants in their Bible studies.
This San Diego county is unconstitutionally discriminating against people of faith because they are not going after similar groups who have poker nights or who have Tupperware parties. In an article on May 22, 2009 entitled "Faith Under Fire; Home: No place for Bible study; County demands pastor spend thousands on 'Major Use' permit to host friends" in WorldNetDaily.com (WND,) Drew Zahn reports that the San Diego pastor and his wife were interrogated by a county official -- on Good Friday at that -- and they were warned to stop holding Bible studies or they will face escalating fines... Here we go again: ACLU vs. American veterans
The most infamous organization in American, the so-called American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), is fighting against American veterans yet again in the United States Supreme Court. As reporter Audrey Hudson writes in today's Memorial Day edition of "The Washington Times," in an article entitled: "ACLU 'dead wrong' on cross," a 7 foot cross standing for 75 years in a California desert to memorialize war veterans is being threatened with removal by, you guessed it, the ACLU.
It is reported that the cross was first erected in the federally protected Mojave Desert Preserve by a group of veterans whose doctors told them that desert heat would help them recover from shell shock. In his column today in "The Washington Times," Glen Gardner, a Vietnam War veteran, and the national commander of the 2.2 million-member Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. wrote that the United States Supreme Court will determine whether that gesture of respect violates the U.S. Constitution's separation of church and state... Democrat Senator Bob Casey's "Pregnant Women Support Act" provides "authentic common ground"
Recently, Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia, wrote to the 99 U.S. Senators, urging them to support Democrat Senator Bob Casey's "Pregnant Women Support Act" (PWSA), S. 1032 -- introduced earlier this month by the senator -- which he believes provides life-affirming support for pregnant women and their unborn children.
A similar bill in the U.S. House of Representatives in the last Congress and this Congress (H.R. 2035), authored by Congressman Lincoln Davis, Democrat from Tennessee, had about a dozen Republicans as co-sponsors including conservatives such as the number three Republican in the House of Representatives in the current Congress, Conference Chairman Mike Pence from Indiana. Other prominent Republican co-sponsors were the dean of all pro-lifers in Congress, Congressman Chris Smith, from New Jersey and Congressman Duncan Hunter, who in the previous Congress was the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee... Obama's eye-popping $2 trillion one-year deficit
Barack Obama's budget numbers were recently revised and the deficit now is expected by the Obama administration to top an incredible eye-popping $1.8 trillion for 2009. Some economists actually expect that even this historic deficit total is based on rosy scenarios and will actually top $2 trillion. This is on top of the sobering news that the deficits over the next decade caused by Obama's budgets will be larger than those created by all the previous 43 presidents combined from George Washington to George W. Bush!
The Associated Press reported that Obama's government "will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year, exploding the record federal deficit past $1.8 trillion under new White House estimates." On Fox News' Special Report, it was reported that "The Administration is conceding the economy is not recovering as fast as it would hope and that means these budget deficits, historically large, are probably going to continue for a while"...
