Christian Coalition Group Pleased With Vote in North Carolina

The Craven-Pamlico Christian Coalition is pleased with the outcome of Tuesday's victory of the Marriage Amendment which was on the primary ballot. The statewide vote was overwhelmingly in favor of defining marriage as that between one man and one woman in the state’s constitution.

“We are thankful for the vote by North Carolinians affirming that, in our state, marriage is between one man and one woman”, said Jerry Schill, Co-Chair of the local Coalition organization and Craven County Coordinator for VoteforMarriageNC.com, a pro amendment grassroots organization.

He continued, “We give the glory to God for the substantial margin of victory giving credence to our state motto, “Esse Quam Videri”, or “To be rather than to seem”... (READ MORE)

House Republican Plan Achieves Deficit Reduction Without Undermining National Security

House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement on the reconciliation process in the House Budget Committee to reprioritize the savings of the sequester in the Budget Control Act.

“Eliminating the threat of our massive national debt is a top priority of Republicans in the House of Representatives.  It is essential, however, that we do this in a responsible manner while not threatening our national security,” said Chairman Price.  “This is why the House Budget Committee has worked with six other committees in the House of Representatives to identify a path forward.  There are prudent measures that can be taken to eliminate wasteful spending and reduce the scope of Washington"... POTUS’ Post-It Plan: An Evolution in Gimmickry

The American people are stuck.  Their incomes are flat, home prices continue to fall, and job prospects are weak.  At the same time, they’re paying more for everything from gas to groceries.  Right now, they expect the president to lead, put forth serious solutions, and work with both parties to tackle the big issues that affect their lives.  Instead, the president’s advisors have taken the power of the White House and turned it into a gimmick factory of late.

First, it was the Buffett tax – a solution in search of a problem that would neither create jobs nor make a meaningful dent in our debt.  Next, the president traveled to Oklahoma to announce his support for the southern leg of the Keystone pipeline – the part that doesn’t require his approval – while still blocking the part of this critical energy project that does.  That was followed by a pledge to crack down on manipulation in the oil markets, despite no evidence that manipulation is playing any role in high gas prices.  And recently, the president sought to create a fake fight over student loan rates, despite both parties supporting their extension.  The president, it seems, is out of new ideas to jump start hiring and has been in search of anything to serve as a distraction from his record on the economy... Senate Dems Under Pressure to Fix Student Loan Problem They Created

On Tuesday, the Democratic-controlled Senate failed to move forward on a small business tax hike bill masquerading as a student loan fix, proving that Democrats are more focused on political posturing than offering a plan that can actually pass.  The House has done its work by passing a bipartisan bill to freeze student loan rates, fully paid for by cutting a wasteful ObamaCare slush fund that Democrats have already supported cutting.

As several news reports noted Tuesday, the pressure is now on Senate Democrats to find a bipartisan solution that can pass, or shoulder the blame when student loan rates double on July 1st... (READ MORE)
