House-Led Momentum on Jobs Continues With Passage of Small Business Tax Cut Act

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Thursday issued the following statement applauding bipartisan House passage of H.R. 9, the Small Business Tax Cut Act, a key plank of the Pledge to America:

Craven-Pamlico Gains Another Victory Towards Marriage Amendment Passage in NC

The Craven-Pamlico Christian Coalition proposed a resolution in support of the North Carolina Marriage Protection Amendmen to the City of New Bern Board of Aldermen at their regular meeting recently. The Board agreed to put the issue on their agenda for their Tuesday, April 17th work session.
 
The resolution supporting the passage of the Marriage Amendment was PASSED by the aldermen on Tuesday evening by a vote of 5 to 2.
 
The issue was discussed at the beginning of their work session but not voted on until 9:30 PM. There were equal numbers of supporters and opponents of the resolution in the audience. Since three hours had lapsed between the discussion and the vote, very few citizens were in the audience at the time the vote was taken. Senate Democrats “Back Off,” “Punt,” “Fail” to Pass Budget Again

In yet another epic “fail,” Senate Democrats have decided to “back off” and “punt” on passing a budget for the third year in a row, throwing in the towel on what Democratic leaders once called the “most basic responsibility of governing.” That means Democrats have NO BUDGET to address our national debt that now exceeds $15.6 trillion, including the $5 trillion in debt that has already been added during President Obama’s short tenure where we’ve seen “four straight years of trillion-dollar-plus deficits.”

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) issued the following statement about the Democrats’ failure to pass a budget yet again:

“The Democrat-controlled Senate’s ongoing failure to pass a budget has become one of the most embarrassing spectacles in Washington. A budget is the most basic function of government, and today’s decision by Chairman Conrad to shrink from responsibility and accountability is especially perilous given the debt-fueled economic crisis staring us in the face"...
