Dr. Ben Carson is still drawing a lot of attention more than a week after his keynote speech at the National Prayer Breakfast.

In his address, Carson spoke out against higher taxes and Obamacare. So far, his 23-minute speech has gotten more than 2 million views on YouTube and catapulted his book America the Beautiful to No. 3 on Amazon.com.

Critics say Carson's remarks were too political for a prayer breakfast. But the Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon told ABC'S "This Week" there was another reason for the strong reaction.

"I make of it that before I made that talk I asked God to give me wisdom (on) what would resonate, what would be important. I don't think it was particularly political," he said.

When asked for his opinion on President Obama, Carson said he's "a very talented politician."

"There are a number of policies that I don't believe lead to the growth of our nation and don't lead to the elevation of our nation," Carson said. "I don't want to sit here and say all of his policies are bad."

As far getting into politics is concerned, Carson said, "I leave that up to God."
