As hard as it is to imagine, a mother of a sixteen year old girl has found out that her daughter's school counsellor arranged for her to have an abortion without the parent's knowledge.

The mother, a Christ Church New Zealand resident, only found out about the abortion four days after the fact.

After suspecting that something was wrong with her daughter, she confronted her friends who admitted that the school's counsellor had arranged for the abortion.

From the story:

Helen, not her real name,...

With the blanket news coverage of Osama bin Laden's killing and the Royal wedding two days before that, little attention was paid to the astounding news which occurred in Canada on Monday.  As "The Wall Street Journal" wrote today, "The federal parliamentary election on Monday dramatically reshaped Canada's political landscape."  The results portend a threat to the Democrats holding on to the White House and the United States Senate next year.

In the WSJ's accompanying "pre-election" and "post-election" charts showing the make-up of the Canadian House of Commons, the Conservative Party, under Prime Minister Stephen...

Regarding the great U.S. Navy Seals' killing of Osama Bin Laden yesterday in Pakistan, emails are bouncing around the Internet this morning and the sentiments are like this:  "Thinking people are asking why the authorities think it was wise to bury Osama's body at sea?" and "There will always be those who question whether or not it was his body" and this most important statement of all:  "I don't think we have any reason to trust that leaders of nations are not above conspiracy and deception for political reasons."

A father of a 9/11 victim reacting to the death of Osama Bin Laden on Fox News said this morning, "I wanted to see the body of Osama Bin Laden" and he said "I want to have closure."  This anguished father did not know why they buried Osama at sea and he...

Many Americans were enthusiastic about real estate magnate and television talk show host Donald Trump's recent blunt talk regarding the United States being on the short end of the stick in relationships with other nations such as China; about Barack Obama's dismal energy policy; about Trump's conversion to the pro-life position, his support for traditional marriage between one man and one woman, and other strong stands.

Trump continues a meteoric rise in the polls because of his blunt talk, most especially about the circumstances of Barack Obama's birth.  The latest CNN polls puts Trump even higher than he was polling last week and he is now tied for first place in the Republican primary battle with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.  In addition, Trump is far...

After a long debate and hardly any involvement from the United States Congress or by a left-wing president in the White House, things are about to get dangerous for young children, and a lot of other people, on the Internet.  This week, pornographic content was awarded its own, top-level domain: XXX, by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN.)

Thankfully, there are organizations which are specializing in fighting pornography and protecting children from the dangers on the Internet.  One of these groups is Enough is Enough (EIE) which has been protecting children from the dangers of pornography on the Internet since 1994.  Its president, Donna Rice Hughes, is a respected leader of national efforts to protect children from online dangers....

The more the bureaucracy moves to enact the Obama administration's notion of health care "reform", the worse it gets.  In this case, it's their move to eliminate the conscience protection rights concerning abortion that were provided for by the Bush administration.

Those protections were put in place on behalf of those in the medical community who did not want to be forced to participate in performing abortions.  The 2008 rule by the Bush administration was put in place to prohibit recipients of any federal funding from discriminating against those who had such moral objections.

The Obama administration now wants to reverse that somewhat and force those medical personnel to distribute drugs which are intended to induce abortion.

It is rare that a conservative finds much to commend in what is probably the most liberal presidential administration in American history, even topping the Franklin Roosevelt administration.  But credit must be given to the president's Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, who seems to have a plethora of commonsense.

Today's "The Wall Street Journal" had an article entitled "Education Secretary Calls Foul on Teams' Academics" in which Secretary Duncan is quoted as saying that Syracuse and Kansas State universities should be bounced from the NCAA basketball tournament for failing to keep at least half their players on track toward graduation.

The WSJ said that "The two schools were among 10...

Yesterday, oil prices surged past $100 per barrel.  A barrel of oil cost $45 when Barack Obama was inaugurated president on January 20, 2009.  In recent months, every driver in America has experienced sky-rocketing gasoline prices and most of the increases are due to Obama's left-wing anti-energy exploration policies.

It has been almost a year since the president shut down oil exploration after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico exacerbating gasoline prices at the pump.  "The Wall St. Journal" editorial on January 13, 2011, reported that forecasters "predict domestic production (of oil) will fall at least 13% this year."  Noone can be blamed for that except the president of the United States.
