Obama and gay marriage

Obama spoke at a Manhattan fundraiser on Thursday and, although he did not specifically state that he supports gay marriage, told gay rights advocates that, "I believe that gay couples deserve the same legal rights as every other couple in this country."  This took place against the backdrop of the current debate in the NY State Senate over whether or not to vote on a bill to legalize gay marriage in that state.

Of course his statement is a complete non sequitur, in that we all have the same "rights".  And when it comes to marriage, every man has a right to marry a woman, and every woman a right to marry a man...or not.  What this is really all about is the "de"...

The Chairman of the Democrat Party, Debbie Wasserman Schulcz, recently admitted that her party  --  and that includes Barack Obama  --  now owns the economy.  If the economy shoots up during Election Year 2012, her party will gain.  If the economy remains the same, Obama will be swept from office along with Democrat-majority control of the Senate.

New Hampshire legislature overrides veto of parental notification bill

New Hampshire became the 37th state to enact a parental notification law with regard to abortion on Wednesday when the Republican majority overrode the veto of Democrat Governor John Lynch.  The vote in the House of 266 to 102, and 17 to 7 in the Senate.

The legislation requires health care providers to 48 hours advance notice to parents of girls under 18 either in person or by certified mail.  Failure to do so would leave them subject to a misdemeanor charge.  The exceptions to the law include if a determination that the girls life is at risk, or if a delay would cause a "serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily organ."

Is everyone in your church registered to vote?  Odds are, the answer is "no".

We would like to invite you to join us in doing one of the most important things that we can do as Christian Americans – register other Christians to vote.

Statistics have shown that only about half of all self-identified Christians are actually registered, which means that they will have no voice in our government.  Simply put, if we are going to be able to have an impact on the issues we care about, this must change!

That’s what our Citizenship Sunday program is all about.

Celebrate Flag Day and our Nation

Historians believe that the celebration of Flag Day began late in the 19th century.  A schoolteacher, named Bernard J. Cigrand in a Fredonia, Wisconsin school, encouraged his students to observe June 14 as "Flag Birthday" in 1885.  The reason for that date is that on June 14, 1777, the "Stars and Stripes" was officially adopted.  Others followed Cigrand's lead during the next few decades including the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia which held a Flag Day celebration on June 14, 1891.

Thomas Jefferson, more than any other president, was concerned that the third branch of government, the judiciary  --  which was supposed to be the weakest  --  would become tyrannical and despotic.  Of course, that is exactly what has happened in America.  Jefferson had an extensive correspondence in his later years with his former political enemy, John Adams, and Adams' wife Abigail to a lesser degree.

Obama dishonors Navy ship-naming

This writer is a former enlisted man before entering West Point and eventually served as an Army captain in the Vietnam War.   Most veterans are thoroughly disgusted with the way Barack Obama has politicized the United States military with his imposition of left-wing social experiments upon the military service.

John Howland, a 1964 U.S. Naval Academy graduate, who manages a web site on naval issues called USNA-At-Large, was quoted in yesterday's "The Washington Times" commenting about the social experimentations being imposed by the president on the U.S. military:  "It's pretty dire.  We're back to H.M.S. Last week President Obama put our country in a position of undermining the peace and security of the nation of Israel.

As Christians, we cannot allow this to happen.

In a major foreign policy speech, Barack Obama called for Israel to return to its former borders prior to the 1967 “Six Day War” with Egypt, Syria and Jordan.  In some places, those borders leave Israel less than nine miles wide.
