VAT: Below is a Washington Post Op-Ed regarding Down syndrome and relevant to the Prenatally Diagnosed Conditions Awareness Act (S.1810). One section of note: “This is properly called eugenic abortion -- the ending of "imperfect" lives to remove the social, economic and emotional costs of their existence. And this practice cannot be separated from the broader social treatment of people who have disabilities. By eliminating less perfect humans, deformity and disability become more pronounced and less acceptable. Those who escape the net of screening are often viewed as mistakes or burdens. A tragic choice becomes a presumption -- "Didn't you get an amnio?" -- and then a prejudice. And this feeds a social Darwinism in which...

Yes, Palin Did Stop That Bridge
By JIM DEMINT

"But, you know, when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change. Come on! I mean, words mean something, you can't just make stuff up." -- Barack Obama, Sept. 6, 2008

In politics, words are cheap. What really counts are actions. Democrats and Republicans have talked about fiscal responsibility for years. In reality, both parties have a shameful record of wasting hundreds of billions of tax dollars on pork-barrel projects.

My Senate colleague Barack Obama is now attacking Gov. Sarah Palin over earmarks. Having worked with both John McCain and Mr. Obama on earmarks, and...

Obama Courts Trouble With "Lipstick On A Pig" Comment Criticizing the McCain-Palin ticket's attempts to separate themselves from President Bush, Sen. Barack Obama said yesterday, "You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig." The problem for him is it appeared to relate directly to Gov. Palin's remark at the GOP convention that "lipstick" is what separates a hockey mom from a pit bull. The AP notes his comment was received with "an outbreak of laughter, shouts and raucous applause from his audience."

The AP adds "McCain's...

Here's a copy of the President's proclamation:

THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press

By the President of the United States of America a proclamation

September 11, 2001, was etched into America's memory when 19 terrorists attacked us with barbarity unequaled in our history. On Patriot Day, we cherish the memory of the thousands of innocent victims lost, extend our thoughts and prayers to their families, and honor the heroic men and women who risked and sacrificed their lives so others might survive.

Since 9/11, we have recognized the threat posed by terrorists to the safety of the American people and worked to protect our homeland by fighting terrorists abroad. We are confronting terrorism by advancing freedom,...

Well, you may have wondered how long this was going to take. First, a one vote majority of the California Supreme Court (4-3) votes to legalize gay marriage in that state, and now the state begins to issue politically correct marriage licenses that not only make no reference to gender, but refuse to allow recognition of either "party" as "bride" or "groom".

From World Net Daily:

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – "Brides" and "grooms" are no longer allowed to marry in the State of California...

Christian Coalition of America, represented last week at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota by top Christian Coalition leadership, said that "Governor Sarah Palin sealed the deal with the Republican Party and many Independents as she proved she is neither bitter about guns nor religion," a dig at a speech to San Francisco Democrats by the leader of the opposition ticket earlier this year.

Governor Palin's speech was watched by a gigantic television audience matching the audience of the candidate at the top of the Democrat ticket last Thursday night. Governor Palin and her family -- who has been under withering political fire for the past few days by left-wingers -- provided evidence Wednesday night that she has what it takes to be...

Senator Sam Brownback, R-KS, recently issued warnings to the television industry regarding the smut they continue to put on during prime time when children are watching night after night. His statements followed the decision by the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals to side with CBS over the fines imposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) upon CBS for smut queen Janet Jackson's so-called "wardrobe malfunction" during the Super Bowl half-time when Justin Timberlake ripped off part of her blouse exposing Jackson before hundreds of millions of children around the world.

Timberlake was singing lyrics which said that he was "gonna have you naked by the end of this song." CBS was rightfully fined $550,000 by the FCC for this outrageous incident...
