Miss California Stands Up For Family Values

Carrie Prejean, Miss California, who came in second place in the Miss USA contest, should be commended for her continued strong stand for family values.  In today's press conference with Donald Trump, owner of the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, she refused to back down to the vicious criticism leveled against her by those who are supporting homosexual "marriages."

Three weeks ago in the finals of the Miss USA pageant, when asked a question by a professional agitator whether Carrie Prejean supports homosexuals being able to marry, she said that she did not and neither did the people who she represented in California support it, paraphrasing her answer.    Indeed, a majority of Californians  --  as did the voters in the previous 29 states who voted overwhelmingly for state constitutional amendments banning homosexual "marriages"  --  voted just last November for Proposition 8 to uphold traditional marriage between one man and one woman.

In today's press conference in New York City, even Donald Trump described what Miss California has been through as a  traumatic period of "abuse" just because she spoke her heart in her answer three weeks ago saying she believed that marriage should be between one man and one woman.  That is exactly what Barack Obama's and Hillary Clinton's position is, which is what Carrie Prejean probably would have said if she could have a second try at answering this out-of-place question in a beauty contest.    She told the mostly hostile audience of news reporters that she would "stay true to herself" and basically that she was proud of the stand which she took at the finals of the Miss USA pageant and in the ensuing three weeks.  She mentioned that her grandfather had fought in World War II and he fought for the freedom of everyone including Americans.  Miss California has the hard-fought right to freedom of speech.

In her final answer today, Carrie Prejean said that she forgave the homosexual activist who asked the question  --  heard all around the world  --  but said she has not spoken to him.  .As Miss California said --  about the importance of standing up for your beliefs  --   it would behoove those who believe in traditional and family values to speak out more in defense of the family.  The large majority of Americans support Carrie Prejean's position on traditional marriage and family values.  More need to follow her example.

Mr. Donald Trump could choose to use his political clout to address the underlying manipulation and discrimination issues involved in the unseating of Carrie Prejean.  It was disclosed that a sideshow has been instigated with a requirement that Carrie Prejean attend gatherings on a "personal basis" to face hostile crowds of gays who would taunt and abuse her for her position on traditional marriage and family values.  It is imperative to note that she did not breach any of her contractual obligations.  Perhaps her attorney may end up having to legally challenge the actions brought against Carrie Prejean.  I pray that her commitment to Christian values remains strong and she is encouraged to stay the course, as a bright light for people of faith.  We might consider sending letters to Mr. Donald Trump, as a protest for her mistreatment, directing responsibility towards him for his involvement in this matter with a proper resolution.
