Why Not a "Holy Peace"?

The term, "Jihad" in Arabic means "holy war.” To me, it’s quite a stretch to think of war as "holy." Wouldn’t you consider peace to be a lot more "holy?" Shouldn’t the Muslims be promoting "holy peace” instead of "holy war?"

"Jihad" seems to be an important doctrinal concept to Muslims. It comes directly from their supposedly holy book, the Koran. It is taught as the main means for the spreading of Islam to non-Muslim peoples and nations. Islam has grown and advanced historically primarily by warfare, by conquering with the sword. Radical Muslims No Match for Australian PM

Australia's Prime Minister Julia Gillard has taken a hardline stance against radical Muslims in her country. Her stance is an example of strong and courageous leadership--a breath of fresh air to the free world--which leaders in Europe and America would do well to imitate.

Gillard announced to her whole nation that “all Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law should get out of the country.” She stressed: “All immigrants must adapt to become Australians. Take it or leave it.” read more »

You have probably heard mention at some time or other of the "Seven Wonders of the World." Of course, they are all strange and unusual physical phenomena that seem to defy reality. But it seems that another worldwide strange wonder, a mental and psychological wonder, took place at the United Nations  a few months ago.

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas addressed the UN General Assembly, asking them to support the establishment of a new, independent Palestinian state and to approve its admission to the United Nations. The great wonder is that so many in that UN crowd vigorously applauded Abbas numerous times, virtually expressing their support for such an undeserved and ridiculous request. read more »

Panetta’s Negative Attitude Toward Israel

United States Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta recently returned from the Middle East with a warning directed at Israel. "It’s pretty clear," he said, "at this dramatic time in the Middle East, when there have been so many changes, that it is not a good situation for Israel to become so isolated.” Therefore, Panetta insisted, "Israel must take risks for peace.” read more »

For the past two weeks I have been in Israel introducing political leaders and legislators from the southeastern region of the United States to Israeli officials in Jerusalem and also to the mayors of several Israeli towns and cities along the Gaza border. As I sat with my delegation of dignitaries listening to the various highly informative briefings presented to my group, I could not help but reflect upon the circus act which the elected leader of the Palestinian people performed before the United Nations a few months back.  As was noted in our briefings, the leaders of the Palestinian people have expertly mastered the art of manipulating the media in order to capture the hearts and minds of even the most educated people around the world.  Like a circus act, this is a marvel and a wonder in and of itself.  People attend carnivals and circuses in order to see strange and unusual performances. read more »

Senator Johanns addresses the pain of the unborn child through legislation

Senator Sam Brownback, Republican from Kansas  --  who most likely will be the next governor of the state  --  since the year 2004 has addressed the issue of the pain which the unborn child feels while she is being aborted.  Fortunately, another great pro-life Senator, Mike Johanns, a Republican from Nebraska has stepped up to sponsor legislation similar to the Brownback bill.
