Nelson Mandela Not Actual Hero

Recently, the world paid respect to former South African president Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela--passing away at 95. Known for his civil rights and racial reconciliation work, he wanted to show freedom is forgiving.

The first president, George H.W. Bush, stated: “Nelson Mandela had the remarkable capacity to forgive his jailers following 26 years of wrongful imprisonment — setting a powerful example of redemption and grace for us all.” Mandela, seemingly, had the correct vision for human rights.

But on the biggest ‘non-negotiable’ in the Catholic Faith, many have questioned how Mandela felt about abortion.

In their statement at Mandela’s  death, South African bishops revealed Mandela’s legacy was not all positive. In Providence (RI), Bishop Thomas Tobin has criticized all the praise media has heaped on a deceased Mandela, saying: signing a bill to legalize unlimited abortions was “shameful.”

Limbaugh Blasts Pope Francis

White orca, first ever seen, in Russian waters.

Rush Limbaugh, leader of radio commentary (conservative and liberal) recently criticized Pope Francis--the head Roman Catholic. He claimed Pope Francis was pushing ‘unfettered capitalism’ by saying: “This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope. I’m not Catholic, but up until this I admired the man.”

First of all, several things need to be clarified, as clear as a bell. As head of the only Church around since Christ’s death and resurrection, the pontiff has always been infallible (cannot be wrong) on issues of morals and doctrine.

Guinness Outdoes Itself With Handicap Commercial

Fancy ‘fluff’ is typical for most of today’s commercials. But some have a deeper meaning than one realizes. Many, were in a Super Bowl commercials, of all places. Some are funny, some are weird, and some are simply ‘harder-hitting’ than you expect.  The last few Super Bowl ads were no exception.

On 2/3/13, John Neff posted two very successful ads in Chrysler's previous two Super Bowl commercials. Imported from Detroit and Halftime in America were the two commercials shown, but received none of the hype of the following ones.

Recent segments--a 2013 add with a Budweiser colt—an offspring of Clydesdales, was posted. The price for a 30-second ad this year is averaging between $3.7-3.8 million (Ad Age).
