House Majority Leader Cantor’s “The Leader’s Lineup”

This Week in the House

Small Business Tax Cut: Next week, the House will consider the Small Business Tax Cut Act, H.R. 9. The Small Business Tax Cut Act is a simple, clear solution to help small businessmen and women grow their businesses and hire new workers. The Small Business Tax Cut Act will allow small businesses with fewer than 500 employees to take a tax deduction equal to 20% of their active business income, irrespective of how the small business is organized. Our 20% small business tax cut goes straight to the bottom line so small business owners can retain more capital, invest in their businesses and create more jobs. You can find more info on the Small Business Tax Cut HERE.

Sportsmen: Next week the House will also consider the Sportsmen's Heritage Act of 2012, H.R. 4089. This legislation requires federal land managers to facilitate use of Forest Service and BLM land for fishing, sport hunting, and recreational shooting (and provide written justification to Congress for any closures); reaffirms National Monument land for recreational shooting use (and requires the Secretary to provide written justification to Congress on any closures); directs the Secretary to issue permits for importing certain polar bear parts taken in a permitted and legal sport hunt in Canada during a specified period; and exempts shot, bullets, projectiles, propellants, primers, and any sport fishing equipment from the Toxic Substances Control Act (and EPA regulation).

Highway Extension: Next week, the House will also consider legislation that would extend the authority to appropriate funds from the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) for federal highway and surface transportation programs for 90 days. This legislation will also include language regarding the Keystone Pipeline.

Cantor Rule
"Are my efforts addressing job creation and the economy? Are they reducing spending? Are they shrinking the size of the federal government while protecting and expanding liberty? If not, why am I doing it…Why are WE doing it?"
