Congressman Price Votes to Protect the “Full Faith and Credit” of the United States

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Price, M.D (R-GA) voted on Thursday in favor of H.R. 807, the Full Faith and Credit Act of 2013. This bill removes the threat of default on the national debt. He applauded the passage of the bill, saying:

“It is imperative that we address the catalysts of the nation’s spending-driven debt crisis that threatens our national security and impedes the pursuit of the American Dream. We have a moral obligation to act as good stewards of the financial future of this great nation. To that end, the Full Faith and Credit Act would ensure our nation does not default on its nearly $17 trillion in national debt. It also makes clear to the world that America is serious about pursuing the kinds of fiscal reforms that will strengthen our economy and better manage our nation’s finances. To oppose this important measure of protection is to invite default.

“We call on our friends on the other side of the aisle, in the Senate and at the White House to work cooperatively with us, to take the threat of default off the table so that we can focus on restoring fiscal sanity in Washington and finally govern in a way that is worthy of the people we are sent here to represent.”

Rep. Price, who represents Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District, is a member of the committee of jurisdiction of this legislation, the House Committee on Ways and Means. He also serves as vice chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
