Congressman Graves Introduces Legislation to Deauthorize Appropriations for Obamacare
Note this press release from the office of Republican Congressman Tom Graves, who represents the 9th congressional district in Georgia. He has introduced a great piece of legislation which undoubtedly will be supported by a large majority of the American people, considering very large numbers of Americans opposed ObamaCare.
His bill, H.R 5882, is legislation that deauthorizes funding to carry out ObamaCare, officially known as, the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Healthcare and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010," Congressman Graves' outstanding bill will stop Congress from using taxpayer dollars to fund government healthcare.
----------
Washington - In response to the flawed and massive Healthcare Bills signed into law on March 23, 2010, U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA) today introduced his first bill in Congress, H.R 5882, legislation that deauthorizes funding to carry out the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Healthcare and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010.
H.R. 5882 specifically prohibits any funds from being authorized to be spent to implement any provisions within the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. Congressman Graves' legislation leads the charge to stop Congress from using taxpayer dollars to fund government healthcare. The legislation also works in tandem with efforts already underway to repeal and replace Obamacare.
"As the Administration continues to sell Obamacare to the American people, the American people continue to have a problem with the White House's policy," said Congressman Graves. "For the self-employed, small business workers and millions of other families who buy their own policy, the cost of their health insurance will be $2,100 more because of Obamacare.
"Congress should never come between a patient and their doctor. I offered this legislation so the funds appropriated through the democrat's healthcare bill will be stopped and they will be forced to rework this harmful legislation and work across the aisle to come up with health care reform that will help American taxpayers, not hurt them.
"I support the replace and repeal bills already in Congress and have signed a discharge petition to bring it to the floor. However, my bill would stop the funding completely and these bad programs will never get off the ground."
Since his election to Congress, Rep. Graves has been outspoken against the government coming between individuals and their health needs. Congressman Graves is a cosponsor of H.R. 4972, which repeals Obamacare and he has also signed a discharge petition to bring that legislation to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote.
