The War on Christmas and the Loony Left's Governor Gregoire
Each Christmas season, the loony left keeps trying to outdo it's previous ridiculous self. This year's champion of the loony left is Washington state's Governor Christine Gregoire who allowed a tiny group of radical atheists to post a display right next to a Nativity scene depicting the Christmas story. Between the two displays is a huge bust of George Washington who must be rolling in his grave at the thought of politicians like Gregoire.
The poster put up by the God-haters insulting Christians in the Washington state capitol building reads in part: "Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
This is just part of a broader war on Christianity. Indeed, three judges on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis, Missouri today will have before them a case regarding the distribution of Gideon Bibles in a public school in a case called Roark v. South Iron R-1 School District. The school's policy is to allow outside groups to give students from a display table at their school religious materials including tracts and Bibles.
One would think there is no harm to this. In fact, reading the Bible might even cut down on violence in that school and that would be a good thing, right? The American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU), who else, does not believe this is a good thing and has sued the school district in federal court. The lower court federal judge agreed with the ACLU that the school district's policy was unconstitutional. She mockingly called the Bible "an instrument of religion" that should not be allowed in schools. She ruled that the school district's policy could actually allow students access to the Bible!
Thankfully, if this 3-judge panel, and possibly the full circuit court on which these judges sit, actually agree with this misguided federal judge -- that the Bible is dangerous to students -- undoubtedly the United States Supreme Court -- as presently constituted -- will overturn this foolish ruling, and tell the ACLU to get a life.

listen this country was founded on god, anyone that doesnt like it can leave this country, give them a one way ticket out of here, and dont come back, these laws where already in place by our for fathers not to be changed, 10 comandments are in and if you don't like the way it is then leave, we didn't invite people to change our beliefs and were not going to change our beliefs, america belongs to god and no one else.thank you lord for being my savior and sending your one and ownly son to die for our sins, all you people that do't want god in our schools and no bibles in our liberies how ungrateful you are, god gave his one and ownly son for us and this is how you treat him? shame on you!DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER PLEASE COME QUICKLEY.
Now isn't this a jem of journalism. I'm just kidding! Settle down... I think it's always good to approach these things with an objective eye and evaluate the context. As a Christian, I'm offended by the sign, because it's basically a slap in the face. I get mad, I tell my roommates about it, and then I clear my head and insert reason. This is the result:
I would say that 70% of the Christian Coalition for America initatives for the year pertained to free speech rights of Christian organizations. If I'm wrong, correct me. How then can we demand that the free speech rights of another group be taken away? It's ironic and silly. Logic like this just gives the other side ammo.
As far as the Roark v. South Iron S.D. case goes, I'm not sure if the Gideon Bibles were constitutional or not. What I do know is that if the Gideons aren't allowed in schools neither should Channel 1 and its two whole minutes of commercials.
The ACLU does not need to get a life. As a US citizen, you should be thankful they exist. There should be balance in everything. Having one point of view can be destructive. Take the Bush administration for instance. I am happy to see that the president elect is following through on his promise to have many different folks from many different backgrounds on his staff. When you have different ideas coming to the table and being discussed rationally, the result is better, more holistic solutions. The ACLU has its role to play, just as we do.
Sadly, this is the direction we are heading as a nation...away from God. May God have mercy on our land.
