Six VA police chaplains resign after being ordered NOT to pray in Jesus name
According to yesterday's "The Washington Times," the state police Superintendent, Colonel W. Steven Flaherty, "requested" that his 17 police chaplains offer ONLY "nondenominational" prayers, i.e. effectively to NOT pray in the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, at least six of Colonel Flaherty's chaplains quit in protest for violating their First Amendment constitutional rights.
The Virginia House Republicans blasted the move by the state police superintendent as an attack on Christianity and a violation of the First Amendment rights of these chaplains. "The Washington Times" reported that one Republican delegate said chaplains were told they could no longer invoke the name of Jesus. House Majority Leader H. Morgan Griffith, a Republican from Salem, Virginia, said that "to require those troopers to disregard their own faith while serving violates their First Amendment rights and prevents them from serving effectively as chaplains. These men had little choice but to resign."
A former Navy Chaplain, Gordon James Klingenschmitt, who graduated from the United States Military Academy and was forced out of the Navy because he refused to obey a similar order to stop praying in the name of Jesus, said regarding this latest abominable action by leftists: "Governor Kaine campaigned like a Christian to get our votes. But now, instead of governing like a Christian, or respecting his own chaplains’ First Amendment rights, his administration forced the resignation of five police chaplains, simply because they prayed publicly ‘in Jesus’ name.’
"These five chaplains lost their jobs for honoring Christ. They’re heroes of the faith, because they refused to deny Jesus when ordered to by the Kaine administration. If they contact me, they will be honored through my web-site: www.PrayInJesusName.org . And now Governor Kaine pretends he’s the martyr, because we question why his administration forced them to resign for praying to Jesus? He’s still got a job, they don’t. Governor Kaine isn’t the martyr, he’s the persecutor.â€
Thankfully, following the removal of Chaplain Klingenschmitt from the Navy, the United States Congress controlled by the Republicans in late 2006 stopped the United States military from keeping chaplains from praying in the name of Jesus. This harassment of Christians by left-wing Democrats needs to stop and stop right now.

Colonel W. Steven
Colonel W. Steven Flaherty, has demostration a prejudice move by violating a United State Constitution amendment as well as the State of Virginia Constitution. In the Virginia state Constitution, the Bill of Rights is included and in Section 16, it stipulates, " No man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief; but all men shall be free to profess and by argument to maintain their opinions in matters of religion, and the same shall in nowise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities. "
I feel that Colonel Flaherty has violated these six chaplains constitutional rights and should be forced to resigns his position for demostration such decision in forbidding these chaplains to exercise their religious right, which includes saying "In the name of Jesus ".
The history of the Constitution and foundation of the country "The United States of America" was built under God and written in these documents, which was believed by the forefathers of this country. And, because of this, our country has always leaned towards these traditional old fashion values that gave this great nation its reputation and honor Christian values. Colonel Flaherty should read these historical documents and familiarizes himself, why and what this country has and always stood for. PJ, Always a Christian to the End of Times and the New Kingdom
What do the scriptures tell
What do the scriptures tell us about prayer? "When you pray go into your room, close the door, and pray to your father who is unseen. When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the streets so they will be seen by men."(Matthew 6:5,6
I have a hard time understanding why these people are considered to be heroes of the faith. They could have prayed quietly in Jesus' name. NOTHING stopped them from praying quietly. It appears they wanted this attention, and I do not understand how it fits with scripture.
Once again, an attack on our
Once again, an attack on our faith and the Church is silent. Had this been against a Muslim, the outcry would had been deafening! WAKE UP CHURCH!!!!!
Once again we receive a wake
Once again we receive a wake up call. It's time we as Christians take the blinders off and step up to the line and be counted. This is such ablantant attack on the very fabric of our religious freedoms. I hope every Christian in Virgina gets on the phone to their congressman and talks real loud.
