Liberals and their Contempt for Diversity
At the time of America’s Founding the nation’s leaders were almost to the man, Christian, but they deliberately chose to establish a secular government to minister in behalf of all the people equally. It was a very friendly disestablishment. The government would be a friend of the Christian religion, but not a religious state. The Reverend John Witherspoon, a Presbyterian preacher, President of Princeton University, and Signer of the Declaration of Independence had a profound effect upon America’s founding. In his sermon, “The Dominion of Providence over the Passion’s of Men†Witherspoon preached, “He is the best friend to American liberty, who is most sincere and active in promoting true and undefiled religion, and who sets himself with the greatest firmness to bear down profanity and immorality of every kind. Whoever is an avowed enemy to God, I scruple not to call him an enemy to his country.â€
Left-wing liberals in our day would allow everyone but Christians and their pastors to have a voice in selecting candidates and the making of laws of the land. They constantly call for diversity, but diversity demands that Christians have a voice in politics. Bigoted unbelievers have nothing but contempt for Christians speaking of politics in their churches and in the Public Square. These pompous “acerbics†are radical fundamentalists in their statist church, Secular Humanism. Secular Humanist churchmen use state powers to intimidate and threaten Christians who address political issues or politicians. These religious zealots cloak their church-state union by accusing Christians of trying to establish a theocracy. Masking their evil mission, they blame adversarial believers of the very thing they are doing. Gradually, bit by bit, court ruling by court ruling, these monomaniacs stifle Christian expression in the public square. Bitterness with zealotry embodying elite statism has always been used to squelch religious freedom.
Christians must understand these “ common-sense challenged “ church-state enthusiasts. They are intellectualized bullies with an unquenchable thirst to deny Christians their rightful place in the political arena. It does not matter to them that their right to speak freely in a political environment is a gift from Christian founders and their successors throughout America’s history.
Allied with liberal judges, radical academicians, and a left-wing media, these Secular Fundamentalists have ravaged the Constitution and turned the First Amendment on its head. In order to stem this tide of tyranny Christians must rise up as one and through legislative bodies and court challenges to resist the radical Secularists’ agenda. It is the only way to ultimately preserve our precious, but imperiled, religious liberty.
