Letter To The Editor

February 13, 2009

Dear Editor:

Congratulations to State Treasurer John Kennedy for his leadership in pointing out the
harmful effects that proposed casino gambling in St. Tammany Parish can have on
families. Which begs the question: What is Governor Jindal's position on casino
gambling? Will he sign a bill authorizing a vote on casino gambling because he would
not view this as an expansion of gambling? While he prepares for a national television
address and for a possible presidential campaign, perhaps it is time for Governor Jindal to
clearly inform the citizens of Louisiana as to his position on casino gambling.

Sincerely,

John W. Hogue, III

John,
Have you heard there will be a Press Conference on this Thursday, February 20 at 1:00 at Koop Drive, in front of the playground? It has been called by a group of citizens concerned about the quality of life in St. Tammany. I'll be there. Hope you will too. I also heard the council vote on the casino, whether to put it on the ballot or not, will be March 5 at 6:00. Everyone needs to contact their Parish Council representative to let them personally know how they feel about this as well as come out on March 5th.

All the best. Elizabeth in Covington
