Christian Coalition of America Condemns ICANN's Decision to Approve XXX Domain

After a long debate and hardly any involvement from the United States Congress or by a left-wing president in the White House, things are about to get dangerous for young children, and a lot of other people, on the Internet.  This week, pornographic content was awarded its own, top-level domain: XXX, by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN.)

Thankfully, there are organizations which are specializing in fighting pornography and protecting children from the dangers on the Internet.  One of these groups is Enough is Enough (EIE) which has been protecting children from the dangers of pornography on the Internet since 1994.  Its president, Donna Rice Hughes, is a respected leader of national efforts to protect children from online dangers.  Note the following information about this wonderful organization.

Despite the Internet’s many wonderful benefits, a perfect storm has emerged for the online victimization of children. Kids have free and easy access to pornography, and sexual predators have easy and anonymous access to kids.  Law enforcement limitations and challenges abound, and naïve kids are engaging in risky online behavior.  Parents, educators and other caring adults must serve as the first line of defense to protect kids online, but they are often uninformed or ill-equipped to deal with these and other evolving threats.

Obama Education Secretary is Right to Criticize NCAA Teams

It is rare that a conservative finds much to commend in what is probably the most liberal presidential administration in American history, even topping the Franklin Roosevelt administration.  But credit must be given to the president's Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, who seems to have a plethora of commonsense.

Today's "The Wall Street Journal" had an article entitled "Education Secretary Calls Foul on Teams' Academics" in which Secretary Duncan is quoted as saying that Syracuse and Kansas State universities should be bounced from the NCAA basketball tournament for failing to keep at least half their players on track toward graduation.

The WSJ said that "The two schools were among 10 in the 68-team National Collegiate Athletic Association playoff that Mr.

Obama's Oil Crisis and Americans' Pain at the Pump

Yesterday, oil prices surged past $100 per barrel.  A barrel of oil cost $45 when Barack Obama was inaugurated president on January 20, 2009.  In recent months, every driver in America has experienced sky-rocketing gasoline prices and most of the increases are due to Obama's left-wing anti-energy exploration policies.

It has been almost a year since the president shut down oil exploration after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico exacerbating gasoline prices at the pump.  "The Wall St. Journal" editorial on January 13, 2011, reported that forecasters "predict domestic production (of oil) will fall at least 13% this year."  Noone can be blamed for that except the president of the United States.

On the day Obama was inaugurated a little more than two years ago, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States cost $1.83.  Yesterday, the average cost of a gallon of gasoline was $3.23, a whopping increase of 76%. On George Washington's Birthday last Tuesday, the cost of a barrel of oil increased by 8%.

Thrifty Congressmen Sleeping in Capitol Hill Offices is Not a Scandal

Despite the outcry from the liberal wing of the minority party in the House of Representatives and their counterparts in the news media about conservative Members of Congress sleeping in their offices, most Americans admire such frugality.  The incessant whining by liberals will not change the sleeping arrangements of these mostly conservative Congressmen.

Press reports have indicated that there are at least 33 members  --  26 Republicans and seven Democrats  --  who sleep where they work; apparently no female members sleep in their offices.

"The Hill" newspaper reported last Thursday that "Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) started sleeping in his House office in early 2009, before sleeping in congressional offices was cool.  So he's shocked by all the attention the practice has received in recent days.

"Last week, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) called on the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) to investigate House members who sleep in their offices.  The watchdog group asked the OCE to assess whether the legislators are violating tax law by failing to report lodging as a taxable fringe benefit.  "Wow, doesn't CREW have anything else left to investigate?' Chaffetz asked increduously, upon learning of the letter."

Dictatorial Speaker Pelosi vs. Freedom-loving Speaker Boehner

Thursday's "The Washington Post's" top-of-the-fold front-page story entitled "House opens up budget process; Some unlikely winners, losers in legislative free-for-all" exemplies Republican Speaker John Boehner's democratic leadership style in sharp contrast with Speaker Nancy Pelosi's dictatorial style when she ran roughshod over the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives these past four years.

In the land-mark legislation passed by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives last night, the "Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011," H.R.1 --  which is this Congress' first designated bill signallying to the American people that the Republicans intend to keep their promises to make dramatic spending cuts in the bloated federal government  --  Speaker Boehner allowed an open amendment process (something Pelosi's dictatorial rule did not allow in the last Congress.)

Indeed, close to 600 amendments were offered and most were debated by Democrats and Republicans during the past few days way into the early hours of each morning.  The House members earned their pay this week.  Speaker Boehner's 87 new Republican freshmen came to Congress with a mandate from the American people to make deep cuts, and last night's vote was a downpayment made by them doing just that.

Today's "The Washington Post" reports: "In a rare early morning weekend vote, the Ho

Lynch mob goes after Joe Wilson

This is a story of two Joe Wilsons and the utter hypocrisy of the left-wing fringe which now owns the Democrat Party, lock, stock and barrel.  The United States House of Representatives, led by San Francisco ultra-liberal Nancy Pelosi, voted a resolution of disapproval against Congressman Joe Wilson, Republican from South Carolina, because he shouted to Obama --  during his superfluous health care speech last week  --  "You lie!"

Is Obama's VA trying to off us veterans?

First, there were the Obamacare "death boards" as described by Governor Sarah Palin, which United States Senators quickly dropped in their universal health care legislation when the pressure from their constituents became too great.  Then came the Obama's Veterans Administration's "death book," officially called "Your Life, Your Choices," a document used during the Clinton administration and now being aggressively pushed again by the Obama administration.

What is it about the Democrats and their advocacy for euthanasia!  Of course, the "Party of Death" has been at the forefront in advocating abortion-on-demand for decades which has resulted in the deaths of some 50 million innocent unborn babies since the infamous Roe v. Wade decision in January 1973.  Now, the Obama administration is desparately spinning this newest abomination to prevent nearly total collapse of any support from America's 23.6 million veterans.

"The Wall Street Journal" on August 18th, reported that former Bush director of the White House of Faith-Based Initiatives, Jim Towey, maintains that the Veterans Administration's attempt to revive the Clinton-era "Your Life, Your Choices" death document is a harbinger of things to come if Obamacare becomes law.  Obama's government-run health care system will urge senior citizens to help America cut costs and accept "death with dignity."

Ronald Reagan, Christina Popa, and religious freedom

"To those who would crush religious freedom, our message is plain:  you may jail your believers.  You may close their churches, confiscate their Bibles, and harass their rabbis and priests, but you will never destroy the love of God and freedom that burns in their hearts.  They will triumph over you."    These remarks were in President Ronald Reagan's speech to the National Religious Broadcasters on January 31, 1981, during his second week in office as president and a couple months before he was almost assassinated.

Undoubtedly, President Reagan was mostly speaking to the communist dictatorships in the world at the height of the Cold War.  However, if he was president this year, he could well be speaking to Canada and Sweden, etc. which have thrown pastors in jail for preaching the Bible from their pulpits on politically-incorrect topics.

April 29, 1607 and Obama's 100th day

Ironically, while yesterday was Barack Obama's 100th day, what was far more significant yesterday was the 402nd anniversary of the first English settlers landing on the shores of Cape Henry, Virginia, planting a huge wood cross in the sand dunes, kneeling down in the sand, and dedicating America to Jesus Christ.

Although the Obama-adoring media has given their messiah more coverage than they gave to Bill Clinton and George W. Bush combined, you can believe that not one member of this establishment mentioned that important historical event. Indeed, the coverage they have given Obama during his first 100 days has been overwhelmingly positive, whereas the coverage they gave President Bush during his first 100 days  --  indeed, during his 8 years  --  was harshly negative.

Senators need to support the Resolution commemorating Paul M. Weyrich

I had the privilege of knowing my friend, Paul M. Weyrich, for many years having worked with him on many pro-family issues and in the political arena. His passing has left a deep hole in the conservative movement and we will miss him very much.

Christian Coalition of America is encouraging Senators to sponsor a Resolution sponsored by Senator Jim Inhofe from Oklahoma, S. Res. 79, honoring the life of Paul M. Weyrich and expressing the condolences of the Senate on his passing.

Senator Inhofe's resolution notes that Mr. Weyrich was the first president of the Heritage Foundation and that he was a pioneer of the modern conservative movement. He established the Free Congress Research and Education Foundation to "rally conservatives to the defense of traditional Judeo-Christian values."
