Help me answer a liberal friend

I'm at a loss. I have a liberal friend from church (a very conservative Christian church!) and she says the abortion debate doesn't hold her back from voting Democrat because "we've had a pro-life President in the White House for 8 yrs. and nothing has changed anyway, so why shouldn't we focus on the real issues like 'what Jesus' would do with health care for all, peace in the world, taking care of the environment...." I need to find a website that spells it out for me - Does "Christian" equal Republican? Why specifically? How can we answer these types of questions? I have another liberal friend that says "abortion" isn't in the Bible and the verses used by conservatives are taken out of context.

Hi,

You sound like YOUR in distress and you need the answers to your questions more than she. I was just speaking about finding this statement I made above a truth in my own life as well and used the "distractions" provided by our earhtly powersources ( electric -- etc..) as my excuse.

Does "Christian" equal Republican? NOPE! at least not in the Bible I read..

1st: Not every one stands on Gods word. A lot of people "quote" His word but so didn't Satan. Does that make them Christians?

Genesis 3:1 says,

"Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, YEA, HATH GOD SAID. . ."

Satan planted a small seed of doubt into the mind of Eve. And as Eve questioned the truthfulness of God's Word and we all know ( and believe I pray )according to The Bible what happened after that.

We need to stay in His word to know the truth and allow the truth to set us free. For he that the Son of man sets free, is free in deed. It would put a large dent in your confusion apparent above. in your statements and questions. The term "another gospel" referred to in Gal 1:6-9, "is a
perversion of the true gospel. That is, it centers on the person and work of Jesus, but adds
or subtracts teachings that refocus people's efforts toward untruths"

2 Timothy 2:15, "STUDY to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"

Despite the deluge of Bible Translations on the market I recommend the King James Version for all to many reasons to repost here.

In fine there are Born Again Christians in all major and third party groups, but not all are born again Christians who walk not "after the flesh, but after and in the Spirit" of God.

Did you place your hope in George Bush? Sad, if so, as man will let you down almost always. Likewhat was stated above, some people talk the talk but few walk the walk and the Bible states this when it procaims:

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."

Luke 10:1-3

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.

I guess, in fine, what I am trying to state is you will not find a
savior in man to resolve any of the issues mentioned. Only in the risen
Lord Jesus Christ. and in His time will you see all problems mentioned
and many more finalized after His return. Until then, read His Word
and gird your self for Spiritual Warfare.

Instead of preaching on the I'm right your wrong coin, preach God's
love and his sacrifice for all, and let people know He is not willing
that any should perish, the worst of the worst He loves and sent His
son to die for no matter what it is they have done.

Preach Jesus and He will open eyes and ears to see and hear as you open
your mouth in total belief that He will say through you what is needed
at that moment. This is one item I can guarantee ... been there done
that.

God Bless you as you look to Him in the quiet, so you can hear His
voice and hear Him as He maps your way and says to you, "this is the
way walk ye in it!"

The term "God fearing Christian" always puzzled me. I would question the true condition of one's soul if they do not fear Him. As for abortion and the Christian, God said that He "hates" the sin of shedding innocent blood. Ask this question.."Is there any more innocent blood than that of the unborn?" Would a true Christian choose sides with the enemy of God and support an act that God Almighty declares He HATES? The old saying goes.."If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck..chances are it's a duck" Christians do not get to pick and choose which commands to obey and which to ignore and disobey. If you are arguing Abortion with a "Christian" friend, I would think that the foundations of their faith are questionable at best. Finally, the Command that says "Thou shalt not kill" is actually translated to "You shall not MURDER, or to take a life without a cause. Abortion doesn't fit that criteria at all. Abortion is MURDER, sheds INNOCENT BLOOD, and has no logical CAUSE.

I will answer one of your friend's questions. I too go to a conservative church which may have liberals. By the way, I am proud to say that yesterday my pastor was one of those pastors all over America on Pulpit Freedom Sunday who endorsed John McCain from the the pulpit because of his strong stance against abortion "which has resulted in the killing of 47 million unborn children since the Roe v. Wade decision."

President Bush has indeed been a great pro-life president and has moved the ball down the field to finally overturning this abominable Supreme Court decision in January 1973. He has put on the Supreme Court two conservatives who will undoubtedly, when the time arrives, vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. Besides these two tremendous decisions by President Bush, he has blocked a Democrat Congress, with vetoes or threat of vetoes, to fund abortions with American tax dollars.

Finally, my pastor says he does not believe that a Believer can vote for Obama.

AMEN to your brave Pastor!! God bless him. I also agree that a true believer cannot vote for Barack Obama and say they follow God's word. Obama is pro-death, and cannot even bring himself to say when life begins...seems it is "above his pay grade." Show me a Christian who can support that, and I'll show you a pretender and not a believer
