The backlash against the Obama administration's policy requiring church-affiliated organizations to...
In God They Trusted
There is a movement today that seeks to have "In God We Trust" taken off of our American currency. Those heading the move say that putting God on our money violates the separation of church and state championed by Thomas Jefferson. This movement says that the founders of our country were not really Christians or godly men. They often use Thomas Jefferson as an example. However, there was not a single member of the Continental Congress that did not acknowledge Jesus Christ as God and God as their protector. The Congress even funded the printing of 20,000 copies of the Bible after King George began an embargo against Bibles being imported into the American Colonies. George Washington wrote a letter of gratitude to the printer for the effort.
Jefferson recognized that there were forces in Colonial America that wanted a state religion to be established. He wanted a church free from state government interference, not a state free from religion. President Jefferson has been reported to have created (or edited) his own version of the Bible; taking out portions he did not believe in. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Jefferson and his friend Charles Thompson were interested in evangelizing the American Indian; particularly the Delaware Tribe. Charles was the Secretary of the Continental Congress for its entire eleven year existence. He translated the New Testament into the Delaware language for the edification of the Indians. For his part, Jefferson decided to take the "picture-stories" or parables of Jesus and organize them in an order so that the Indians could best understand the character and teachings of Jesus. And this he did, but never published in English because he feared the very thing he is now being accused of.
These are just a few examples of the dedication to God that was, and is, evident in the writings and actions of the Founding Fathers. However, on our money is where the supreme evidence is found. And that is why some want it eradicated.
Let’s consider the $1 dollar bill, the most circulated bill of currency in the history of the earth. On it is the statement In God We Trust and the symbolic United States Great Seal.
The Great Seal of any country is conceived in order to have an image to imprint that symbolizes what the country stands for. Our Great Seal was authorized by the Continental Congress at the beginning of the nation. It was commissioned by Congress and designed by the Secretary of the Congress, Charles Thompson; a devout Christian.
You will notice that the seal has on its front, a pyramid. We know that this is the front of the Seal because, at the bottom, it reads: The Great Seal… And because the reverse side of the seal, across the bill, reads, at the bottom: …of the United States.
This pyramid has the eye of God at the top or at the "capstone" of the pyramid. Around the capstone is the caption; Annuit Coeptis. These words are translated and interpreted from the Latin: Providence favors our undertakings. What does this mean? Who is Providence? The Founders meant the God of Abraham, Issac, Jacob and Jesus. There are thirteen steps ascending to the capstone, representing the thirteen colonies united. The Roman numerals at the bottom of the pyramid represent the year 1776.
Finally, the banner at the bottom of the pyramid says, Novus Ordo Seclorum. This is also Latin for; A New Order of the Ages. What was the old order? The old order was a monarchy where a man (and his henchmen) ruled men. The "new order" was a republic where democracy reigned, men voted and rule was "of the people, by the people and for the people."
Why did the Continental Congress unanimously consent and approve, on the first viewing of the design, a pyramid to represent America? Because the Biblical Triangle had always represented divine protection and deliverance. The Founding Fathers believed that the pyramid represented; 1. the fruit of Christianity, bestowed on them, in order to stand against the "old order" of the world and 2. protection against the greatest army on earth, which was about to come against them. Where did the Founders get such an idea? They got it from the Bible.
So, where does the Bible tell us that the Pyramid is our Christian Kingdom-work symbol? In the text, John 21:1-14. To set the scene, Jesus has been crucified, buried and resurrected. He has been seen by his disciples, but they are waiting for further instructions from him and go fishing on the Sea of Galilee. He visits them there. You can read the full text for yourself, however, the key verses are verses 10-11.
"Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught." Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore, it was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn."
Why does the Bible mention the actual and exact number of the fish caught; 153? Because it is the number of "fruitfulness" in the Bible and the equation of an exact Isosceles Triangle, having equal sides and being the strongest geometric shape known to man. Here is how you can see the triangle. Take piece of paper and put 17 dots across the bottom, then 16 dots above those dots and so on until you reduce the dots to 1 dot. You will create a perfect triangle and you will have 153 dots. (Interestingly, scientists have recently found that there are exactly 153 species of fish in the waters of the earth. The complete fruitfulness of the "waters" is 153 and the Gentiles (most of us Christians) are always represented in Holy Scripture by "the sea" while the Jews are represented by the earth or "the land".)
In biblical terms, you will have a triangle with three points representing, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The foundational 17 dots are a combination of the number 7, representing perfect completion and the number 10, representing the number of man’s work. So the number 17 is the biblical number of man’s work on earth within God’s plan. It is also the victory number in scripture. The Founding Fathers knew this.
There are many more examples, but suffice it to say that Bible scholars agree the numbers mean that the triangle stands for Christian fruitfulness and protection in God’s system of symbols. The Founding Fathers believed this to be true and made it our symbol on the face of the Great Seal of the United States. So, if the "movement" wants to erase In God We Trust from our currency, we must also rub out the front of our Great Seal. If we must take these off, better to take off the entire design and start over because Christians were responsible for the whole of it. Oh, and the picture of George Washington on the other side of the bill must go. He was a Christian. And when we take these off we must be ready to face the rest of the challenges of the Twenty-first Century on our own, apart from the Providence that has been our protection and deliverance for two-hundred and thirty-three years.

First of all, you obviously are a very educated person and because of this, I am surprised that you would actually believe that this country was founded on so called "Judeo-Christian" principles and foundations. We will, first of all put aside any discussions about the christian-created term, "Judeo-Christian", and despite my objections to the overly misused term, I will use it for the sake of this argument. My ultimate issue is not with religion itself; not even with Christianity or so-called “Judeo-Christian†philosophy and thought. My problem is with the “co-mingling†of politics with religion. Everyone in the United States has heard the arguments; for both sides. Soon, the entire issue becomes so seemingly dead-locked, and, hopeless to find an easy way to resolve the issue, it is placed on a back-burner or even dropped. THIS ISSUE SHOULD NOT EVEN EXIST. The fact is that, as I, and anyone else who has read the memoirs of Thomas Jefferson, can CLEARLY and EASILY see Thomas Jefferson's views on Christianity. The fact is that ALL of America's founding fathers were not christian. Though many did attend christian chruches (as I do), the fact is that most of them, ESPECIALLY Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, and John Adams, openly DESPISED and spoke out against the concept of biblical christianity. There are more anecdotes than I have time to load onto this rebuttal, but the fact is that the information is available for ANY AMERICAN to FREELY read for themselves. America was founded by free-thinking DEISTS that viewed their Creator as something so sacred and beautiful that many did not even want to associate Christianity to their Supreme Being. THIS INFORMATION IS FACT. IT is NOT some vain attempt at creating a biblical theocracy. IT is NOT an issue about sifting through the last 200 or so years to find some deeply buried truth; these wonderfully radical and blessed men wrote their thoughts and philosophies down for posterity so that their motives for founding this blessed country would be clear. YOU look at the dollar bill like it is a prophecy from Christ himself, and yet once again that the idea of Providence, and Eye of God, the pyramid, are ALL symbols from previous ages of philosphical revolution (especially that of the French Revolution) The fact remains that this country is neither now, nor has ever been rooted in any defined theology. The morality that is stated in The Constitution of the United States of America is, if anything, is a beautiful representation of Trancendental DEIST philosophy and morality. THESE ARE FACTS. Not religious spin or made up connections. Period. Any "leader" that states otherwise would not be a good leader for a country which he seemingly has never been educated in the it's past.
"and Eye of God, the pyramid, are ALL symbols from previous ages of
philosphical revolution (especially that of the French Revolution)"
Just wanted to point out that the French Revolution occurred a dozen or so years AFTER the American Revolution. I don't think the founding fathers 'as holy or unholy' as they were could do time travel quite yet. ;)
If anything, the French got it from the Americans.
Not that this is worth an argument, but as you quoted me saying: "and the Eye of God, the pyramid, are ALL symbols from PREVIOUS AGES OF PHILOSOPHICAL REVOLUTION (especially the French Revolution)."
Just to clarify, even though it was already stated, I said that the symbols came from previous ages(notice the use of plural) of philosophical revolution. Never did I state that they all came from the french revolution. And I feel like I may also need to remind you that long before the wars of the revolution came into fruition, the philosophy and spirit of revolution and "Providence" were in full swing under the surface (just as in the States when the revolution began long before the shots were fired)
Another fact is that all of these symbols existed and stood for philosophical ideas LOOOOOOOONG before Christianity adopted it. The fact is that every symbol in christianity belonged to another culture before it (as with much of its dogma and doctrine as well). This does not necessarily mean that the symbols on the dollar bill are not christian at all, it just means that they are just as much masonic as they are chrstian and are just as pagan Egyptian as they are Christian and they are just as much Zoroastrian as they are Christian. Saying that these symbols are "claimed for Christ and Christianity and that there use is proof the so-called "christian" foundations, is about as logical as saying that the first time the cross was used was for Christ's crucifixion or saying that the fish icthus symbol was first a christian symbol. All of these things are based in nothing but TWISTED facts. They are a vain attempt to validate christianity's place in this country as a religion worthy of regard.
"Interestingly, scientists have recently found that there are exactly 153 species of fish in the waters of the earth."
Er.....there's more like 29,000!!! Which 'scientists' are these?
