The Christian and Allegiance
What should the Pledge of Allegiance mean to American Christians? What allegiance do Christians owe to their country? There are a couple of things that most Christians will agree upon, one of them is prayer and defense of America against her foreign enemies is another. Prayer and defense are certainly two very important duties that Christians owe to America.
But is that all the pledge allegiance means to us, prayer and service in our armed forces? What about the term one nation under God, what does that mean? Does it mean that we pledge ourselves to fight against those who would lead America against the will of God and what about the terms with liberty and justice for all, could this mean that we are also to fight against those who would destroy liberty and justice in America. Or has the whole Pledge of Allegiance become nothing more than just something we recite with out real thought or true meaning?
When America is threatened by enemies from within, threatened by those who seek to remove God from America and who take from Americans liberty and justice what are Christians obligated to do? There in lies the problem; this is where we fall short in our duty to America as many Christians just do nothing. Politics in America is something that many Christians leave to someone else, after all politics are dirty and we don't want to get our hands dirty. But if we leave politics to non Christians just what kind of government will we have, do we not already have an America whose federal government has forgotten God? Do we not have a government ever expanding, a government replacing liberty and justice with more controls and more intrusions into our daily lives? If America is to be restored to one nation under God with liberty and justice for all it will be Christians who lead the fight and no one else. Is not this what the Pledge of Allegiance really means and is not America worth fighting for? At the very least can we not support Christian Candidates and get out and vote this November? Yes pray for America and prayer is powerful but it not enough, we must fight for an America under God with liberty and justice for all. We must stop the madness in Washington and we must start this November.

1858jars, I think it's like talking to a brick wall, trying to get Christians to stand up for what they know is right.
I (as well as all other active & ex-military) took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign & domestic! I think it's about time we acted like it!
