Yet another poll shows majority of Americans pro-life

For the third time in a month, another poll hase come out demonstrating that a majority of the American public is pro-life.

Earlier this week it was the Gallup poll that got the headlines, as it was the first time in that polls history that it showed over half of the public as holding a pro-life position.

Also this month, there was a Fox News poll, indicating the same thing...more Americans are pro-life than "pro-choice".

Well now we have a third poll, this one from Rasmussen, which should put to rest exactly "how" most Americans feel about the issue.  From the story:

The Rasmussen survey, released on May 5, asked a different question than the others and found that 58 percent of Americans say abortion is morally wrong most of the time. Just twenty-five percent disagree and the rest had no opinion.

The survey found women are more strongly pro-life than men as 64 percent of women believe most abortions are morally wrong, a view shared by just 51% of men.

Obama handed huge defeat on Guantanamo by fellow Democrats

On the same day that former Vice President Dick Cheney gave a long-scheduled speech on the Bush Administration's doing the necessary things to keep America safe, Barack Obama, in a hastily-scheduled public relations event at the National Archives  --  right in front of the original Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, which many in his party scorn  --  blasted the Bush administration for its methods in keeping America safe for the past 8 years such as enhanced interrogation techniques.

Obama's fellow Democrats in the Senate -- like House Democrats earlier  --  handed him a stinging rebuke this week when they refused to fund $80 million dollars to transfer the vicious Islamic terrorists in the Guantanamo Bay prison to prisons in America, and supposedly to other nations.  No other nations have offered to accept the most hard-core terrorists, with the possible exception of a few nations accepting a handful of the terrorists.  Only 6 Senate Democrats, and of course no Republican Senators, supported Obama's request for funding, which was a huge setback for a president only in his 4th month in office.

Obama administration bans Bible verses in the Pentagon's reports

One of the major prayer ministries in Washington D.C., the 15-year-old Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) reported yesterday in their daily newsletter that the Pentagon on Monday said that it would no longer include a Bible quote on the cover page of daily intelligence briefings which it sends to the White House as was the practice during President George W. Bush's administration.

In its prayer which the CHPP published regarding this news coming out of the Obama White House it asked God's forgiveness for "the rebelliousness of our nation to go against You!  We pray that You will quickly remove those who are burdening our nation with laws against You and replace them with righteous people."

Our nation has for years been rejecting God, with the pace of America's rejection of God being accelerated with infamous decisions by the United States Supreme Court.   For example, the Supreme Court in its Engel Et Al. v. Vitale et Al. decision in June 25, 1962, banned organized prayer in public schools.

The Founders of America would be astounded at the hostility towards God and the Bible in Obama's America or at least amongst Obama's ruling class.  Indeed, the United States Congress in 1782 actually passed a resolution which said:  "The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools."  How tragically far America has fallen from those halcyon days.

Gallup poll shows majority of Americans are pro-life

While there have been many, many polls on the abortion issue over the years, and many that have shown more people holding a pro-life vs. a "pro-choice" position, this is the first time in the history of the Gallup polling company, that their poll has shown that a majority of the American people are pro-life.  From the story:

Gallup said on Friday that a new poll, conducted May 7 to 10, found "51 percent of Americans calling themselves 'pro-life' on the issue of abortion and 42 percent 'pro-choice.' This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995."

"The new results, obtained from Gallup's annual Values and Beliefs survey, represent a significant shift from a year ago, when 50 percent were pro-choice and 44 percent pro-life. Prior to now, the highest percentage identifying as pro-life was 46 percent, in both August 2001 and May 2002." ...

Broken promises revealed at the White House Correspondence dinner and on "Face the Nation"

Twice this past weekend, the left-wing media put an exclamation point on the breaking of two key promises made by Barack Obama during his presidential campaign.  He promised that he would put an end to that extreme partisanship in America and he promised that his interrogation tactics would keep America safe.

Wanda Sikes, one of those Bill Maher-bitter-against America-type "comedians," greatly amused Barack Obama  --  based on his laughter  --  when she accused Rush Limbaugh of treason and said he should die of kidney disease at the White House Correspondence dinner.  Of course, the elistist Inside-the-Beltway media-types  --  who also mostly distain the America between New York City and the California cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco  --  laughed along with Obama.

On Greta Van Susteren's show on Fox News today, former top advisor to the president, Karl Rove said that those remarks by Wanda Sikes was "vicious, nasty, mean and ugly and had no place at the dinner."     Yesterday, on CBS' "Face the Nation," former Vice President Dick Cheney blasted the Obama administration yet again for endangering America's national security.  "The Washington Times" reported today that Mr. Cheney said that the country has been more vulnerable to a terrorist attack since the Obama administration took power.

Washington, DC Council votes to recognize gay marriage

Just last week, gay marriages were held in Iowa by edict of that state's supreme court.  A few days later the New Hampshire state Senate passed a gay marriage bill by one vote.  And Vermont legalized gay marriage a few weeks ago.  Now comes the District of Columbia.

And while we've watched as liberal judges demanded that marriage be redefined, and we've seen liberal politicians use slim majorities to change the definition of the oldest, most fundamental institution in the world, we haven't seen a demand for this radical transformation of marriage by the American people.  Quite the opposite.  In fact, in the over thirty states where the legal definition of marriage has been on the ballot in recent years, voters in each state have agreed that it should be exclusively defined as the union of one man and one woman.

Pro-abortion crowd pushing "UN Convention on Rights of the Child"

Backers of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a United Nations treaty, are pushing Congress to ratify the document during the Obama administration. Although the treaty contains some language supporting unborn children, it has been used to push abortion on an international scale. The Convention on the Rights of the Child "recognizes that a child needs appropriate legal protection before, as well as after birth." At the same time it "doesn't recognize a child's right to be born", and has been used by UN committees, agencies and other non-governmental organizations to promote abortion.  Meanwhile, liberal maintain the treaty won't "usurp our national sovereignty", but will "boost our credibility globally".

Pro-life opponents of the treaty in Congress are fighting back.  Rep. Pete Hoekstra and pro-life Sen. Jim DeMint have filed a parental rights amendment that would defend against some of its provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.  "We better lay the groundwork," Hoekstra told AP. "The last thing you want to be is unprepared if something pops up on the radar screen."  He is concerned that the Senate will have the votes to approve the treaty despite opposition saying it would potentially overturn parental involvement laws across the country.

Supreme Court comes down on side of children

This time the United States Supreme Court came down on the side of children in America.  Tuesday, in a narrow 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that broadcasters who use indecent and vulgar language can be punished by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) even if the swear words used were not in the script.  David Souter, whose resignation this coming summer was announced yesterday, of course sided with the 3 other liberals against America's children.

In writing for the majority, Justice Antonin Scalia said:  "The commission could reasonably conclude that the pervasiveness of foul language, and the coarsening of public entertainment in other media such as cable, justify more stringent regulation of broadcast programs so as to give conscientious parents a relatively safe haven for their children."  Justice Scalia was joined in the majority by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, and Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito, Jr., and for most of the decision, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.

Bush 41's biggest mistake: David Souter

The United States Supreme Court announced tonight that one of the most left-wing justices on the Supreme Court in decades, David Souter, is retiring from the nation's top court this summer.  Non-court watchers if asked if they knew which president appointed Souter would probably say Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton.  Not even close.

David Souter, from New Hampshire, was described by former Governor and former presidential chief of staff, John Sununu, now Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, as a man as conservative as "you and I" when describing him to conservative Americans to reassure them that Souter would vote like Sununu, for example.  Governor Sununu was chiefly responsible for recommending David Souter to the president he worked for, George H. W. Bush.  Mr. Sununu assured President Bush and his fellow conservatives that David Souter would be a "home run" for conservatism.

If you ask any conservative what was Bush 41's biggest mistake he will --  in the vast majority of cases  --  say "David Souter."  It was even a more gigantic a mistake than Bush 41 breaking his "Read my lips:  no new taxes" pledge in his 1988 presidential campaign.  The reason is, the decisions made by a U.S. Supreme Court justice affect Americans for decades.

Senate needs to reject Judge David Hamilton

Barack Obama's first nominee to be on the federal circuit court of appeals, David Hamilton, who is appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, needs to be defeated.  He was nominated to be a judge on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.  Hamilton was given a "Not Qualified" rating by the liberal American Bar Association in 1994 when Bill Clinton nominated him to be a federal district judge.  Hamilton is even more unqualified to be a federal appeals judge and Senators should vote no on his nomination.

Hamilton is a former ACLU board member whose voting record as a federal district judge mirrors that fact.  Indeed, in 2005, when the ACLU brought a lawsuit before him, Hamilton ruled that the Indiana state legislature could not begin their sessions with Christian prayers.  His decision, which was overruled by an appeals court, dictated that invocations could not use names such as Jesus Christ or "savior."  He is too radical to be confirmed by the Senate."

David Hamilton's judicial rulings favored criminals such as in the case in which he struck down a part of an Illinois law which would have forced registered sex offenders to notify authorities of their email addresses and user names.  This radical judge was reprimanded by an appeals court after he ruled against Indiana's informed consent law on abortion.  Barack Obama must not be allowed to turn the federal judiciary into his own image.
