Obama's trillions keep adding up

As if Barack Obama's trillion stimulus legislation (which includes interest on the $787 billion final bill) was not enough, Americans found out today that the Democrats' health care legislation  --  which greatly increases government intrusion into Americans' health care  --  will cost American taxpayers another trillion dollars during the next 10 years if it is passed by the Democrat-controlled Congress this year.  This is what the Congressional Budget Office has estimated the Kennedy/Obama health reform bill will cost in a letter to Senator Ted Kennedy today.

These two one-trillion dollar Obama programs are on top of the nearly 1/2 trillion onnibus bill passed to fund Obama's government until the end of this fiscal year.  Obama's first deficit is estimated by his administration to be $1.8 trillion, but many economists believe it will actually be a gigantic $2 trillion by the end of this fiscal year.  Obama has quadrupled the deficit and quadrupled the debt according to Sean Hannity on his show tonight on the Fox News channel.

Conservative victories in Europe threaten America's Democrat Party

The world conservative movement won a huge victory in Europe this past weekend because European voters rejected left-wing take-overs of businesses and huge government spending to combat the severe world-wide recession.   They are rejecting the Nanny state said Glenn Beck on his show on Monday.

Considering that those socialist policies are exactly what the Obama administration is forcing upon America  --  with the help of an extreme left-wing United States Congress  --  the European election results portend disastrous consequences for the Democrat Party in next year's congressional elections  --  unless the "Blue Dog Democrats" and others with commonsense stop their party's rabidly partisan and ideological leadership.

The center-right elected candidates picked up 267 seats in the European Parliament.  On the other hand, the center-left politicians won only 159 seats.   Daniel Hannan, conservative British Member of the European Parliament, said on the Glenn Beck Show on Fox News this past Monday that people make a mistake when they assume that liberal democracies are a permanent fixture in Europe.

Likewise, the Democrat leadership in the White House and in Congress  --  as well as pessimistic Republicans  --  are making a mistake if they believe Barack Obama's, Nancy Pelosi's and Harry Reid's pell-mell rush to socialism will be a permanent fixture in this country.

Obama's dangerous policy against Israel

Obama's speech last week in Cairo, Egypt was highly dangerous in that he did not say that America will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.  During his presidential campaign, he said his administration would not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.

As evidence of yet another broken campaign promise, Obama said in his Cairo speech that taking out a nation's nuclear weapons is not a decision left to one nation, but to a community of nations or words to that effect.  Bill Kristol on Fox News Sunday yesterday said that Obama hardly mentioned anything about this serious threat from Iran during his Cairo speech.

Charles Krauthammer, on the same Fox News Sunday program, said that in his speech, Obama compared the genocide against the Jews (the Holocaust) with the dislocation of Palestinians because of Israel's actions following the war.  Such comparisons, said Krauthammer, "[are] morally indecent,"   Obama's moral equivalence nonsense is what the world also heard from the failed Carter one-term administration.

Obama's new math: a 1.9 million job loss becomes a 150,000 job gain

When Barack Obama used such weasel words during his presidential campaign as in "I will create or save 3 million jobs over the next 2 years," Americans with some economic sense wondered how he knew how many jobs he could "save."  Of course, during the presidential campaign, the left-wing Obama-favoring media, and now the White House press corps, have let him and his ecomomists off the hook on this point.

Just last week, Obama boasted that his one trillion (with interest) dollar stimulus package had already created or saved 150,000 jobs.   Even an Obama administration official in a hearing this week could not explain to a Republican Congressman how the Obama administration came up with this wild 150,000 job gain figure according to Fox News tonight.

As Karl Rove writes in "The Wall Street Journal", nearly 1.9 million jobs have been lost since January when Obama was sworn in as president.. As Mr. Rove points out, in the beginning of January, 134.3 million people were employed.  At the beginning of May, 132.4 million Americans were working, a loss of 1.9 million jobs.  Considering that Obama took office in the third week of January, and his trillion dollar stimulus bill was signed into law shortly thereafter, let's give him credit for a loss of only 1.5 million jobs.

Fairness Doctrine by another method

Acting Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman, and former Democrat appointee to the commission, Michael Copps -- who has, in the past, been supportive of tough broadcaster fines for violation of indecency laws -- recently came out and stated that the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" is long gone and "it's not coming back".

As columnist Brent Bozell has pointed out to the acting FCC chairman and the other members of the FCC in the past, there are some very prominent power-brokers in Washington D.C. who have actually called for the return of this unconstitutional, anti-First Amendment policy.  These include the Speaker of the House of Representatives - Nancy Pelosi, the House Majority Leader - Steny Hoyer, former President - Bill Clinton, Senate Majority Leader - Harry Reid, and a host of other left-wing Democrats.

Of course, these Democrat leaders are egged on by their comrades in the "Old Media" who have hated losing their monopoly on what is news or not, such as the "New York Times" with its slogan "All the News Which is Fit to Print."  Before the Internet and weblogs, extremely popular conservative talk radio challenged their monopolistic status in providing news to the American people.  Virtually every liberal talk show host has failed in this country because Americans can always listen to CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN if they want news with a left-wing slant.  Hence the push by liberals for the "Fairness Doctrine."

Congressman Lamborn seeks to protect children by stopping "morning-after" pill distribution

It is outrageous that school-based health clinics are receiving American tax dollars to distribute the "morning-after pill" or as the abortion industry calls them:  "emergency contraception."  Colorado Republican Congressman Doug Lanborn has introduced a bill  --  which has 40 original co-sponsors  --  called the "Schoolchildren's Health Protection Act."

What is equally outrageous is the fact that before an aspirin can be given to schoolchildren, permission from their parents or guardians must be obtained.  Yet, the "morning-after pill"  --  what some call the "abortion pill"  --  can be given to children without their parents knowing.  These dangerous pills can induce chemical abortions.

Congressman Lamborn said regarding his legislation:  "The so-called morning after pill can induce abortions, if conception has occurred, and has no place in our public school health clinics.  This bill would prohibit federal funds from going to any school that distributes or provides emergency contraception or a prescription for such contraception."

The congressman goes on to say that:  "It is morally unacceptable for taxpayers fo fund abortions for school-age children.  Additionally, these drugs can lead to serious health consequences for the child, such as heart attacks and strokes.  It is in everyone's interest to protect our children."

NBC News and Fox News not responsible for murders of abortionist and Army private

Left-wing media-types such as Brian Williams, the anchor for NBC News, actually had someone on his broadcast this week blaming Bill O'Reilly, anchor at Fox News, for the death of George Tiller, the abortionist who murdered up to 60,000 innocent unborn babies over the decades in Kansas.  Mr. O'Reilly has been blamed for Tiller's death by a number of media outlet talking heads.

Bill O'Reilly, on his program tonight, asked the question, "Is NBC (and anchor Brian Williams) responsible for the death of the Army private, 23-year-old William Long, and the shooting of another Army private?"  Just one day after Tiller was killed, Army Private Long was assassinated in Little Rock, Arkansas by a radical Islamist domestic terrorist named Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, an American convert to Islam, who said he was angry because American soldiers were killing Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mr. O'Reilly wants to know if NBC's anti-Iraq war broadcasting slant is responsible for inciting Muhammad to violence and murder.  He says emphatically no, just as he, and Fox News, are not responsible for inciting Tiller's killer to violence.

Obama's new economic strategy: trust-busting?

This might come as a shock to those of you who have old-fashioned ideas about why the economy isn't so hot right now.  You may have notions that the problems are things such as too much consumer debt, a housing bubble caused by sub-prime mortgages...enabled by the government via Fannie Mae & Freddi Mac, or even too much money made available by the Fed, but you would be wrong.

The folks in the Obama administration have identified a new culprit.  Big businesses.  Specifically, those that dominate their markets.

As if commandeering the banking, finance and auto industries weren't enough, a couple of weeks ago the Obama administration decided to throw a bomb at modern antitrust law.

Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust Christine Varney claims that the Justice Department can aid economic recovery by prosecuting businesses that have been successful in gaining large market shares. In her announcement last month she argued that "many observers agree" that our current recession reflects "a failure of antitrust" and "inadequate antitrust oversight."

So, the problem with our economy is businesses that have been so successful that they have gained a dominate share of their markets?  "Success" is our problem?

Obama's eye-popping 2 trillion dollar one-year (!) deficit

Barack Obama's budget numbers were recently revised and the deficit now is expected by the Obama administration to top an incredible eye-popping $1.8 trillion for 2009.  Some economists actually expect that even this historic deficit total is based on rosy scenarios and will actually top $2 trillion.  This is on top of the sobering news that the deficits over the next decade caused by Obama's budgets will be larger than those created by all the previous 43 presidents combined from George Washington to George W. Bush!

The Associated Press reported that Obama's government "will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year, exploding the record federal deficit past $1.8 trillion under new White House estimates."   On Fox News' Special Report, it was reported that "The Administration is conceding the economy is not recovering as fast as it would hope and that means these budget deficits, historically large, are probably going to continue for a while.'"

Obama said yesterday that his nearly trillion dollar (with interest added in) stimulus bill which he signed into law, has already created "or saved" 150,000 jobs.  By using weasel words such as "jobs saved," the Obama administration will be able to use just about any figure they want to pull out of the air, such as "my administration saved or created 10 million jobs during my first 4 years."

President Obama selects an extreme left-wing partisan for Supreme Court

As expected, President Barack Obama went far to the left to select, as his first Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, an Hispanic left-wing extremist. As Supreme Court watcher Tim O'Brien said this morning, Judge Sotomayor will be the most liberal justice on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Judge Sotomayor laughingly told an audience that we make policy from the bench which should satisfy the president's desire to have judges make their decisions based on empathy and not on the law. However, the symbol of justice in America is blind-folded which means that justice is blind and decisions by judges should be based on the law and not on emotions.

Right out of the box, contrary to the president's campaign promises -- to govern from the center, to reach out to his opponents, to establish a post-partisan presidency -- Obama has broken those promises and his Supreme Court selection is the latest example of his administration governing from the extreme left.

Judge Sotomayor, who has been an appeals court judge for about ten years on the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, had a high profile role in an affirmative action case involving white firefighters who were passed over for promotion in favor of minority candidates who were less-trained.
