Say "NO" to funding of embryonic stem cell research
Last March, President Barack Obama issued an executive order that will allow virtually unrestricted federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. Funding that will create incentives for scientists to create new human embryos specifically to destroy them for research.
Former President Bush set a policy in place in 2001 that restricted federal funding only to stem cell lines that existed as of that date - thus discouraging "create and kill" behavior.
Obama's proposed new policy would eliminate that restriction.
The National Institute for Health has posted draft guidelines to implement Obama's new policy, but these guidelines are subject to a thirty day public comment period, which expires on May 26th.
Please be sure to take some time and visit their site and offer your comments on the new regulations.
Also, take a moment and let your members of Congress know how feel about using tax-dollars to fund embryonic stem cell research. Let them know that just because Obama changed the regulations, they don't have to fund it in the federal budget.
Click here and let them hear from you today.
